belgarrath: Its been years since I've played my retail cd version of this (install disc got broke/cracks long ago) so I got the GOG version the other day. So i was setting up a LAN game for my kids, and they all wanted to be on the same team vs computer opponents, playing on a random map. I couldn't figure out how to do it. Or couldn't remember how. Or even remember if it can be done? Anyone know how to do this or if it can be done?
Sure I can help you out. Will make the following example as if you have 2 kids wanting to play vs 2 computers.
On the Random Map settings after both players have joined the game, you would want to set the following settings.
HUMAN OR COMPUTER PLAYERS Set this to 2 (or however many humans you want playing)
HUMAN OR COMPUTER TEAMS set to 1
COMPUTER ONLY PLAYERS set to 2 (or however many enemies they want from 1- 6)
COMPUTER ONLY TEAMS set to 1 (if you set the comp players to say 6 and wanted 3 teams of 2 then you would set this to 3. Or if you wanted say 2 teams of 3 each you would set it to 2. However be aware that the computer will randomly choose it's own teams from among the Computer ONLY players.).
These are the 4 numbers that are important for setting up the game for a 2v2 with humans v comp. You would choose the other options like map size, water, guards and difficulty as normal
*BE AWARE that the 2 players above will have to be Red and Blue, they can choose which is which but must use those 2 colors in above example. Otherwise you cannot guarantee that humans will be together. This really shouldn't matter that much though.
ALSO you will not see the teams until the game starts so don't worry that it does not show the allies near the bottom right on the setup.
Any other questions I would be happy to answer.
