So my game installs fine, latest version (4.0). I start single player and load a map okay, but I cannot move my hero. I can go into my town and buy units / build a building, but thats it.

It says it is currently my turn in the bottom right, but I can't pass turn either.

I'm running this on Windows 7 64 bit. For reference I have already tried running it in administrator mode, and different compatibility modes. I'm at a loss, trying to play with a friend who has the same version and OS as me and his works perfectly fine. One thing we noticed was that his data folder in his HOMM3 installation had 4 more files than mine, but even after getting those I have the same issue.

Any ideas?

Can you move the hero using arrow keys?

I remember there was a similar case and the problem was that every click would register as two clicks, so the first click would move the hero and the second cancel it.

Can you try a different mouse?

Another try is to use the unofficial HD mod, which usually solves many incompatibilities with newer systems, and also adds some extra options for multiplayer which you might like

I tried that, has no effect. I don't think its a mouse related issue because I can do other things with my mouse in game (make buildings, hire units).

Also to note I don't hear the building sound when I buy a building

As I said if it is a ckick registering twice then everything else with the mouse would work.

Could it be a keyboatd issue with a key being continuously pressed? Can you see if it works after unplugging yoir keyboard?

I've done some more playing around with it, and I think I have figured out when the problem is occuring.

If I do a completely fresh install of HOMM3 and start single player the game works completely fine, I have no problems with movement.

When I try to play online via Hamachi, Gameranger, or Tunngle that is when the problem occurs. Turn does not correctly pass to me, I can't move my hero, the only thing I can do is create a building or buy units. Once this happens even if I quit out and launch the game to play single player the problem persists.

It seems like playing online is somehow effecting my game file, but I have found nothing online similar to this.

Any thoughts?
