Hi,
I've got H3 Complete bought years ago which I now cannot install to my PC with XP SP3 (DirectX9_something), the installer just hangs on the splash screen when I insert the install CD.
To avoid another major disappointment, I'd like to ask if anyone knows of similar problems installing / running gog's H3 complete on XP with SP3 (and directx9+)?
Thanks,
VVV

GOG version works good. But my retail version doesn't have any problems either.
And yes, I run Win XP with SP3 too.
GOG.com codes their own installer, which is different from the retail installer.

Same with me Heroes 3 complete installs fine on my XP SP3 system and always has.
Wahtola have you checked the disc for scratches or checked if other games install without hanging recently?
It works perfectly on my XP SP3 (and my Vista) machine. The only thing to be aware of is that if you have previously actually had the CD version installed it might not have cleared out the registry causing a bit of trouble unless you fix it yourself (there are threads about it here in the forum)
Thank you for your replies, I have GOG H3 now which launches ok. There are other older CD based applications which do not install to my XP SP3 and I'm thinking the problem with my system lies somewhere else than (just) the OS.
Most importantly, however, I have HOMM3 running again :)
thanks,

Glad to hear that. It is what we all expected :)
Could you please mark one of the replies as solution ? This way it will show as solved on the game information page
