I'm late to this thread, but whatever so-called drama notwithstanding, I just wanted to thank and give kudos to HiPhish, for that rather brilliant solution. I have been wrestling with a similar problem (CD audio in Wine), but for a different game, and unfortunately this solution here cannot be of much use since it seems to use specifically patched/hacked executables for this specific game HOMM2. But still, that is some great ingenuity with this whole solution (like including the custom cue file and "blank sound" to avoid the freezing and disrupted sound)...very nice!
