I've been searching far and wide for a solution to my problem, but I've been unable to find one and so I turn to this council of sages for advice. I've installed HoMM5 plus expansions on my ASUS Strix laptop which should be plenty overkill with a GTX 1060 (3 GB) graphics card and 8 GB of RAM. The problem is that the game freezes when the loading screen with the game's title appears. The title screen changes the screen's resolution and the title screen becomes twice the size and then the game freezes. I cannot close it through the task manager and I have to restart the computer to be able to to come back to the desktop.

If anyone can help me solve this problem, I would be eternally grateful because I love to play it on the go. It even ran on my old HP laptop, but I haven't been able to run it on this gaming laptop.

Thanks in advance!

There're two known problems...

I.Driver
Hardware is everchanging the last 25 years, new protocols, whos is calculating what,..etc.
Much stuff that was impoartant 2006 is now outdated or might be even considered "harmfull", starting with Driver 300.? stuff that is important for many old games was removed from the driversoftware and now the game can't communicate correctly with the card. If this cause the problems the only way is downgrading the driver(s).

II.Auosave+compatibility-mode
Some people wrote that using the compatibilitymode and turning off autosave solved their problem with freezing

good luck
