Is it even possible to win small map with lack of resources on impossible ? I mean computers have all resources so in the time you build 1-4 tiers they have all 7 tiers. Is there any chance to win this kind of map ?

I tried to play this kind of map lately and I was always attacked from the begining and survived only by defending my city. After this I gain some power but when I meet another oponent - he had 7 times more creatures (even I had this glorious Craig Hack hero with full offence, attack 11 , full armor ) ...

You have to play offensively since the begining ? If that is even possible with just few creatures ... On the larger maps I can imagine with a bit of luck and neutral mines you can win the race of creatures but in this kind of map, well ...
In my experience the only HoMM 3 maps that are truly impossible are the small ones, and a few medium ones.
Are we talking one AI or multiple?
Both. Also difficulty depends on wether multiple AIs are allied or not.
I'll give it all those conditions a shot later.
Okay, so I did the easy part. I beat a small random map on 200% against a single AI. All the alignment settings were randomized. My victory was no big deal, especially since Rampart versus Tower isn't exactly fair. But anyway, I will face two allied comps next time. It can only get worse from here on out, folks.

Well done!
Personally I prefer more assymetrical maps of the quest type, instead of maps that are designed for multi-player.
There's lots of very good user made maps out there, some far better than the maps skipping with the game.

A four day win. Oh my.

I'm guessing the two combat victory screen shots are where the AI tried to take back its starting town? Looks like you hit a Dungeon before taking the (unguarded?) Tower.

Yes, their town was undefended when I swept in! There was a Prison guarded by Troglodytes near my starting town; Dace the Overlord was inside with some usable troops.

Alright, it's getting tricky. My first two random maps with two allied comps were failures, but I managed to crack the third one. I was randomly given Fortress, so the eventual ability to recruit Wyverns was a game changer. But even so, I had to keep an eye on my two opponents and strike only when I could. Every single battle was full of weak stacks chipping away at each other. When I took the last enemy town, I had to allow their hero to capture my Fortress. I thought the final battle would be intense since the enemy had Rocs, but it wasn't too bad. Don't be fooled, though: this was not easy.

I kept clicking at the "Done" checkmark button on the first screenshot before I realized what I was doing.

Nice job on those maps!
Good job man, but to be honest, I think this fast victory on impossible can be done only on random maps full of free resources, mines, items and where you dont have to fight creeps to get to enemy city ( important fact ) - on most of bacis maps are 6-7 tier units guarding roads. But it is a bit diferent if u play some small premade map, some of those official maps to play single player.

But anyway, yeah, it is possible at least on random maps, this is a good sign :)

I belive, in general, there are some castles that are better for rush tactic (cheap units, buildings, fast growth) and also those that are good for impossible small maps. I would say that Castle and Stronghold could be best for this.Correct me if wrong :D

Castle works well, with the double shooting marksmen. I think the Stronghold has more problems though, since their T1 and T2 units are made of paper. Decently hitting paper, but still paper. Rocs are pretty awesome, and Ogre Magi are also solid.

You're correct on that first point. It's much like how if you're randomly assigned Dungeon on 200%, you're better off rolling a new map. My rationale is that richer maps help to offset the massive disadvantage you start out with, so I don't regard it as cheating. I think even expert players will find poor maps extremely challenging on 200%.

I just played (and failed) a 1-on-3 game where there was only one Gold pile and a bunch of useless resources. I captured an AI's Fortress, he captured my Stronghold, I took it back, and then another AI hero killed me with Beholders and Medusas (I only had Goblins, Wolf Riders, and Orcs). Had that not happened, I could've built a Wyvern Nest in the Fortress town and continued towards victory.
Well, I played random map on 200 and yes, challange can be if you play agaist more allied players. But those random maps seems pretty crazy anyway (you can win or lose just by accident). You must rush on their castles anyway dont ya ?

Stronghold has very fast Rock creatures - their building is pretty cheap and this makes them strong in early.

Maybe this tactic will work (i ll try later) - you can also Necromancy skill by defending your town on small impossible map, and gain hundreds of skeletons, so you will have enough army to play with when stronger heroes come later :D

Rocs are viable...if you can afford them. Without free Gold piles or chests at the beginning, good luck.

Even with Galthran or a Necromancy specialist, I don't think you'd raise enough Skeletons to be a threat to your wealthy AI opponents.

Well guys, I've played 3-4 games so far against 3 allied comps and have failed each time. One of you needs to step up and show me how it's done!
