Does anyone have a line to the Horn of the Abyss expansion for Heroes?

According to the GOG Wiki, yes:
"In the Wake of the Gods is compatible with the high res mod."

Horn of the Abyss has been released, though only in Russian. English translation is being worked on.

I don't know how about you, but the new pirate town evokes memories of Might and Magic 8 (Regna, Daggerwound Island).

So any chance the new expansions are going into the GOG flavor?

I ask because I naturally like the convenience of them doing the pack work. Don't get me wrong I am not as lazy as that seems. I can figure all the details out. But when I pay for a product I don't knock myself out either XD

Also, I am curious regarding if it would be turned on by default if GOG does add them. As some have pointed out. The new Wake is rather pointless and strange.

Since they are fan made, I'd say no. Fan made patch fixing many bugs which developers could not fix by themselves (Gothic 3, I'm looking at you!) are something different, because they are rather essential than optional (Wake of Gods or other mods).

OOHhhhh....ok. See I thought they were official expansions. Like the way Icewind Dale added the online expansion long after the game was out on shelves. DOH! XD

Thanks for the info. I'll just enjoy the GOG non modded flavor till I beat it then =D

In first link there are 4 files to download (or 11 if you count rars) total.

In second link on forum I've found this: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=34352 - there is some "WOG 3.58 ERA" link... what is this ERA version?

Can someone explain differences? What files should I download to have the most complete version? Are files from strategy planet enough?

This looks absolutely AMAHZANG!
That reminds me, I have to fix my mods. Not sure why they stopped working when I stopped playing HoMM III for a while.

There is a new version of ERA from august 2012.
Era is a Mod System (Mod Manager) and advanced editor. It also contains WOG and couple of other mods.

The main difference between standalone WOG and ERA WOG is that standalone is in a form of installer, which overwrites some of the game resources, ERA contains WOG in a form of a mod that installs in its own directory and does not change any game resources

Didn't test this yet
So has anybody recently found in a good Wake of the Gods file that works with the GOG version?

I've tried a bunch of things including this ERA thing and nothing seems to work.

Get the file and download Era2.4.exe and run it.

Install it in program files\gog.com\Heroes 3 subdirectory . In other words, get the install in the Heroes 3 subdirectory.
After everything is installed, you should be able to play in the Heroes 3 subdirectory
with the file h3era.exe .
I've started the game but haven't played it.
Another way is to go to Tools and then to ERA START MENU sub under the Heroes sub, and run start.exe where you can find other things like editors.

One site that gets regularly updated, as well as regular posts by the authors and primary modmakers is Heroes Community.

Heroes Community Forum

ERA II (WOG) thread
(Its a little over 80 megs. Be sure to download the update 2.43 as well.. Also, check the last page of that thread; there is an issue with autosave which they explain how to address.)

Mods which have been converted to ERA II

This mod is great. A few things are unbalanced, but I just don't use them. For instance, its neat to be able to permanently summon elementals to your ranks, but the AI can't deal with it. But its a very good option to include in hotseat player v. player.

Oh, one thing. Be sure to do a clean install of HoMM before adding WOG. And if you are using WIN7, be sure to install somewhere other than Program Files.
