Wow, amazing mod. Never realized this type of thing existed for Heroes III. After looking over their forum though, I wanted to point out that Celestial Heavens has three additional official updates for WoG. It's their new official page too.
On their page, it doesn't mention which order to do the updates. The patches require that first you do the script update, then you manually replace the two bug fix files to complete it. It's not 3.59, but it does fix a few things.

I have HoMM3 and WoG installed, but am totally overwhelmed. I am a long time veteran of Might of Magic many years ago, but there just seems so be so much going on in Homm3! There are so many monsters all over I am getting wiped out all the time...
Really my question is, how should I play the game? Try the scnarios first, or try random maps or what, and if I do the scenarios what order should I play them in? Too much choice here for me...

I agree. I get wiped out pretty quickly. I enjoy the game, but I don't do well at it.

I suggest any players new to HOMM3 or WOG should play some scenarios (or random maps - WOG's RMG works wonders!) first.
Also, if you (being a long-time HOMM3 player) find WOG's additions too much, you can adjust what settings to apply and what not before starting a game, in the WOG Options screen.

gamespy website has under system maintainance for days now.. from where to download latest wog?

Could anyone tell me everything you do to install this? Do you have to move it's folder somewhere first? Sorry, I'm a little confused. It works on Vista, right?

Decompress MapEdPatch.rar in Heroes folder and run H3WMapEdPatch.exe after specifying the right path to the H3WMAPED.EXE.

WoG is imba. I think the best expanstion to HoMM 3.
