Change locales? You mean that you have to install in English, then you can change language for the game? I think that's still the case. You can change it using the Era Start Menu program.

Be sure to get the 2.43 update. There were several bugfixes from 2.4

That's going to be an issue. I have all sorts of problems on this computer, when I switch away from Finnish.

It's what kept me away from WoG, and apparently, still is.

I haven't tried more than the HD patch yet but i wanted to share the results of my research to get the Best Version of Heroes 3. the best i can tell is this

HD mod allows higher res and some bug fixes

Wake of the gods ( WOG ) is a new editor vastly more powerful than the one included, supports advanced scripting and many new features and has forked into many changes including units and graphics.

ERA is the patching system for the newest version of WOG that uses a directory structure

Horn of the abyss ( HOTA ) is a mainly russian developed mod - well though through campaign units and new town, tight development team

In HOMM3 there are some hard coded limits that have made it difficult to preserve existing data (like a 256 creature type max) when adding data to a map/mod . so this last one is perhaps most intriguing

VCMI is an open-source project aiming to re-implement HMM3 WoG game engine, giving it new and extended possibilities
VCMI uses a new data system and converts old info into a new format so all the eliminating the old hard coded limits!

I would like to quickly check scenarios in WoG campaigns. What's the "win scenario" cheat code? In Heroes 3 Complete and Chronicles, it was nwcredpill.

If you are waiting for version 3.59 of WoG, it won't happen. People are no longer working on it. 3.58f is definetely the last version.

Horn of the Abyss - sounds interesting, but I will wait for the English version. Also, people were able to insert new towns without altering/removing the existing ones? If that's true, then I want the "holy grail" known as the Forge.

The Forge is the going to be the eleventh town added in Horn Of The Abyss, complete with its own campaign. We don't know when, but yes, it's in the plans, the guys behind both the Forge town and Horn Of The Abyss confirmed this.

Thanks! I found the victory code (wogonering), but it looks like campaings are unfinished. First one acts wierd during the 2nd mission (maybe because I'm skipping the missions with a code), 2nd and 4th appears to be working fine, 3rd has only the 1st mussion and 5th doesn't load at all. 6th (and maybe 7th) - unknown. This happens in the ERA version on WoG. I could check the original WoG for comparison.

I had WOG for a long time now, it played great. But yesterday, I went to play and there was no sound. Only the intro had sound and after the menu nothing. So I decided to uninstall + re-install but I'm experiencing some problems, so I thought maybe you could helop me.

I installed successfully Heroes 3 complete. Checked it for sound and I had the same problem. Nevermind, I went on to install WOG again ( 3.58f ). I set my system language to US english. Unrared and then tried to install WOG but when I went to choose the path, I chose the correct and pressed ok but the same window popped right away. No matter how many times I did this over and over, eventually it doesn't select a path. I checked the characters and they're all in english.

I had the same problem when I first installed it. I couldn't slect the path, and if I remember correctly, one day I tried again, it had the path selected by itself. Weird, but I don't know how to do this again!

My wife was looking for a new game a few years ago, so I turned her on to HOMM3 Complete. She liked it and played it all the time. (Since I passed the CD to her, I moved on to other games myself.) But one day, she complained that she was done with HOMM3; it was too much of the same thing over and over. I could hardly believe that; it seemed to me there was enough game there to last for years.

Turned out she hates campaigns and only wants to play single scenarios on random maps. I poked around and discovered WOG, and I installed that for her. She has been delighted with it ever since.

I've never tried WOG myself. But it evidently works very well for some gamers--especially those who like lots of cool stuff and random maps.

I gave this a spin for the first time last night. I really don't see what the fuss is all about.

I installed and tested Wog with Heroes 3 complete edition. The quest scripts do not work correctly in first mission. Also game crashes. Somehow i got feeling, that this mod is incomplete.
