Hi everyone,

I am playing currently the Campaign "Liberation", and here the Mission "Neutral Affairs" in Heroes 3 Complete.
There is a border guard quite in the south which requires the "speculum" to pass, however I don´t have it and it doesn´t exist on the map anywhere. I have read that this is a known bug of the Heroes 3 complete edition. My question now is whether it is possible to "cheat" this speculum into the game. I am strictly against cheating, but since this is a bug, I would not consider this a cheat. Is there some cheat code that allows to conjure up the speculum artifact?

There is a link to an editor in the recent "map bug" thread.

You can also try to build Artefact Merchants and hope you get lucky. I think the Speculum has a decent chance of turning up.

I don't remember the details of the map, so I can't be more specific.

On this map there is only one Tower city - and unfortunately the option to construct an artifact merchant is greyed out - so it is not possible.

I haven't used the editor myself, but this is the relevant information:

"Simple guide:

First download WoGEditor (or click: https://mega.nz/#!wF8kDZhB!OOZBB3W4AnAmwVJ2quFzUlhHUwHLHhziNnhtwHZjan0)

- Turn off Antivirus (Win 10 real-time protection)
- Run HoMM3 (NOT using HD Mod), in my computer it is: D:\Heroes III\HoMM 3 Complete\Heroes3.exe
- Run WogEditor.exe (sometime need "Run as Administrator")
- On WogEditor.exe, click "Get Hero Info" for editing, now you can add Artifact, Skill, Magic... to the Hero, see: https://imgur.com/a/3uuJIzT
- The final: save game and open HD Mod, load game and play as normally."

Thanks a lot - it worked! Sorry for not getting back earlier, I just found some time today to try the editor. I do appreciate the help.

I have another question (I don´t think there is need to open a new thread for that): during the campaign I admittedly cheated once (I was facing an impossible battle). And now, for each campaign that I am finishing, I get always the "Cheater!!!" title - despite the fact that I cheated only once. Is there some way to remove that or edit a savegame in this way?

Hello there !

For the record and for people who'd still try to beat the "Restoration of Erathia" campaign in its "HoMM 3 Complete" version, there is now another way to tackle with that pesky bug. A fellow member of Heroes Community investigated that issue very recently - 25 years after the original campaign's release! - and produced a fix which more or less restores the intended way to play that part of the campaign.
Here's his post about it, with the modified map file you need to swap with the one located in your HoMM3 Complete Data folder.
As Og states himself, what he did doesn't (and actually simply can't) exactly replicate the original game's experience - mostly because of mechanics introduced by "Armageddon's Blade" -, but it comes close enough by allowing one to (finally!) be able to obtain either of the two artefacts without having to cheat, edit your save, etc.
