Hello,

I bought HOMM 3 complete this morning on gog.com
Downloaded, installed ok

But when I launch the game I have the following problem:

CD ROM Shadow of Death Was Not food ...
And I can not play solo.

I look a little on the support and the forum, I found nothing.
I try to run the game as an administrator: always the same

Any ideas?

my computer was on vista

sorry for my very bad English

Did you try to patch the game by any chance? Often when a GOG game starts asking for a CD it's because the game's exe somehow got swapped out for one that doesn't have the CD check removed, and trying to patch GOG games is a common cause of this happening.
Hello, yes I try to patch the game with a translation patch "french". This did not work I just uninstalled and reinstalled everything without the patch.

If it comes from as you advise me to do?

Thank you
Odd that uninstalling didn't clear the problem. My recommendation would be this: uninstall the game, then check for any files left over in the installation directory, and if there are any left then manually delete those. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. If the problem still persists then it may be a registry entry that's causing the problem, in which case you'll need to find the offending registry entry and manually delete it. However, as this can become a bit involved and it's best not to start deleting things out of the registry until other options have been explored, try the first thing I mentioned and see if it works. If it doesn't then we'll go from there.
ok thank you I'll try that.

I'll keep you informed of the resultok thank you I'll try that.

I'll keep you informed of the result
If you are running under Windows Vista or WIndows 7, try this:

Right click on the executable and select properties. Find the compatibility options and check the "Run as administrator" box. Hopefully it will work now.

I actually had the exact same problem, but running as admin fixed it for me. As I later turned off UAC in windows, there was no longer any need to run as admin.
