I can't for the life of me figure out how to pull out the sword in this game. I've tried using Q to swap weapon types, but it just cycles between the NRG weapon and the CLN rifle. Can someone tell me what key to press to use it?

Cheers.

The sword isn't given to you, it's an item you find in the game. Once you get it, you can swap to it using Q.

By default, the F3 button should unsheathe the sword once it's acquired. I think it can be remapped to another button in the Key Bindings menu.
I see. I saw someone using the sword at the beginning of the game and assumed you started with it. Thanks for letting me know. Which chapter do you obtain the sword?

To be honest, I wasn't paying attention where I was when I found it, but it wasn't too deep into the game. I'm just enjoying myself blowing shit up :)

No problem. I just found it. It's stabbed into a switch near the end of chapter 4 (Bazaar). It was driving me crazy trying to figure out how to use the damn thing. Thanks again for the help.

Cheers.
I actually find the sword to be annoying, because before you get it, you are able to switch between the ranged weapons quickly, but after you get the sword, it cycles though that as well. Would be nice to have the option to turn it off completely, since the sword is utterly useless in this game.

Have the same complain, I used the sword only for those very few robo-zombies, for any other type of enemy it's completely useless.

Is there a way to disable the sword entirely?

atm no, at least none that I found out about.
which is really a shame because when quickly switching between the cln and nrg guns (in the heat of the battle), the sword really gets in the way ;(
I agree, the sword needs to be taken out of the weapon rotation, and given a melee button strictly (or something like that). It TOTALLY screws with the weapon switching.
You can rebind individual weapon selecton keys (F1, F2, F3) to whatever is easy for you to use. For example I use 'Q' for C.L.N., 'R' for N.R.G. and 'B' for Katana, so I can quickly switch to preferable weapon. Also Katana is pretty usefull, especially with newly added dodge.
