Cannot help but notice not much of an interest in this old Microprose combat helicopter simulation. Understandably it is already 2 decades old title and many things have changed in this rather busy and ever fast-paced computer world.

Yet despite its age for those who remember this title earlier, it is a surprisingly well-preserved piece of gaming and now a real pleasure to be fired again with the benefit of modern hardware with horsepower and performance this game was lacking when it first came out.

Also, many hours were spent by a few good people researching secrets of this simulation and looking for hidden potential locked up deep in the files of the game. As perhaps few know, Gunship! was planned to be just a stepping stone in a way to become M1Tank Platoon3 a combined air and ground unit portrayal of the combat on the modern battlefield.

There are many very interesting pieces of information available about this game and potentially there is still a lot of fun to be had in playing it and modding it as well. But maybe this only seems to be the case to the oldtimer like me. Please share here your thoughts about this game and give your honest as well as critical opinion about it. Thank you.
If I recall correctly, Falcon 4 was going to plug in to M1 tank platoon! and Gunship! under the name of "the electronic battlefield"

I can only imagine how much i would of enjoyed that, it either got canned or pushed out the door when Hasbro bought Microprose, a very sad day indeed. The good to come of that event was a coder upping the Falcon 4 source code to the internet. Now we have Falcon 4 BMS and again imagine if the electronic battlefield had been finished and the BMS team where modernizing that.

This is correct! Gilman Luie's "Electronic Battlefield" in Falcon4. What is your take on the current state of BMS and what are the chances for making that dream of electronic battlefield come to life under BMS? Possible, or just a dream?
Hi TadZuko,

BMS has just released 4.35, with DX 11 support, so we should think that Falcon is in great hands. As for ever making the Electronic Battlefield work, I would not know.

My gut tells me that BMS is a flightsim group of coders and helicopters and probably even less tanks are in thier future for Falcon.

We can hope :)
