The Japanese fan community made a patch to allow the game to be played online, and was hoping that would of been incorporated into the GoG release. Any change it may? It only works with the Japanese release in its current state.

Oh man, I sure hope so. There isn't much point for me in getting this game if I can't play it online.

Last i checked the patch only worked on the euro version of the game.

Were something like this incorporated into the GOG release--officially or unofficially--and allowed international play, I'd buy it instantly. Right now I'm tentative.

I don't know about the actual patch versions. All that I know is that the online patch was designed for the euro version of this game.

And GoG games usually come prepatched.(mostly always official, never 3rd party) They don't really change much. They'll do hotfixes for comparability but no major framework is done.

You mean the Japanese version? BTW, which version is this, anyway? If I understood correctly, the only difference is that story mode is in English in the Euro version. However, I'd still like to see someone try to patch it even if it's not the right version. But oh well, I guess I can wait till Tuesday and do it myself.

Must keep this topic front and center. =) GOG, you made the right choice picking GG as your first fighting game, now give us a reason to trash talk eachother into infinity. In the interem, I suppose I'll put out a challenge for MOM, arcade points attack, and survival mode.

Got to admit, i was a little disappointed when i found out that patch didn't work with this version. Still bough it to support GOG for actually selling fighting games now. :)

Since you've purchased it, I see no issues with this, since the only difference is apparently some language files.

I agree with this. As long as you own a copy from GOG I don't see a problem getting the Japanese version to play online.

You should be able to get the online working even with the GOG version. Since I don't have it, someone can try the method I'll attach and say if it works.
