Was on the fence about getting this at the current 80% discount. Went to forums after seeing some reviews claiming the game is out of date. Seeing this, I will definitely be buying the game now. Thanks for responding.

CE_Chris:
Thanks for updating the game in a timely manner and keeping us informed.

I'd also like to see achievements and multiplayer implemented, preferably in a DRM-free way like direct IP.

I wonder why so many games are missing achievements on GOG. I'm not a developer but if it's as simple as adding a plugin to Unreal 4, and this game's engine is Unreal 4, what are you guys waiting for?

Sometimes you will have to write such a plugin (like the devs from Strangeland did) and sometimes an existing plugin is not working as intended. However it MIGHT be additional work. When it comes to WIRED they do NOT intend to invest any additional work into the game - since this is the reply I got from them today.

"Sorry for any confusion here – in this instance, GOG themselves implemented the game in its whole, this wasn’t a version the developer worked on. This version is simply a DRM free version of the game – no achievements or online, just pure combat racing, solo or couch co-op, all DLC bar the DeLorean. This is advertised and we do not have any plans to bring other features into this version. Again, sorry for any confusion here and we hope you still manage to enjoy GRIP on GOG."

Ok I don't actually like the wording there... So what? Does this mean no further updates/patches? It's going to be an out of date game going forward and won't get anything else the Steam version might get?

I don't think they would go that far as to not provide future updates here. Right now they are saying that they simply won't give us anything more than what they advertized. Future updates (if they even happen) are probably included - and they fixed their mistake when they released an outdated version as well so there's that as well.

When it comes to DLCs however - yes, the wording let's suggest that as far as it is additional work to implement them into the GOG version they MIGHT not go the extra mile to release those here as well.

I cannot express how much I HATE it when publishers (the message was from a CM on a discord of the publisher not the developers - but in most cases the devs have to do what the publishers are saying) are going the "easy additional money from GOG" route instead of the "additional satisfied customers on GOG route" devs/publishers like Wormwood, Funselector and others are going (support such devs/publishers please). Makes one wonder if our money is worth less than those of Steam customers.
