Never received this type of error message before. What does this even mean??
I've tried redownloading several times, always the same message when I try launching. Can anyone help?

I'm running an HP on Vista desktop. Never checked my configurations before but I've never had any problems running any GOG games before.
Let's see...
Vista Home Premium
Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.80 GHz, if that helps.
Thanks!

ETA - Saw an earlier post on this same subject. Sorry for not seeing it before! I will try to follow those directions, though I'm not computer savvy.

ETAA - Apparently my graphics card is a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. I can't figure out how to update - can someone pls advise? Thanks!

Grim Fandango Remastered requires a GPU(Graphics Card) with support for OpenGL3.3 or higher, and your GPU only supports OpenGL 2.1.2 according to http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu/db/index.php?id=21270

The only thing I can think you would be able to do would be to get a dedicated GPU instead of using the onboard GPU

If you already have another GPU other than the onboard, it's possible Grim Fandango's trying to use the onboard graphics by default, to get it to use the main GPU, open the Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings, then the program settings tab. Find Grim Fandango on the list (or add it to it) then tell it to use the High Performance Nvidia Processor.
Wish I had noticed the graphics card requirements - Intel HD Graphics 3000 definitely is NOT going to cut it. Feels like the bad old days when I saved up for a super high end graphics card so I could play the Zork Grand Inquisitor. GOG might put that requirement right up front before you buy - it's pretty hard core to require a graphics processor that's *that* new. <sadness>

Unless they updated it recently, the requirements are on there:

Minimum system requirements - Windows: Windows Vista or Later
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, AMD Athlon™ X2 2.8 GHz, or higher
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4650 / NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 / Intel HD 4000 Graphics, or equivalent
Hard Drive: 6 available space
Sound Card: Windows Compatible Card
Additional Notes: GPU that supports OpenGL 3.3 or higher

Intel HD 3000 supports OpenGL 3.3 on Linux as far as I know. So you can give it a try if you have no other computer.

Thanks for the comments so far. I realize my computer is old. :-) In fact I have a new HP desktop (with Windows 7) still boxed in my closet. Seems like now would be the time to shelve my current and set up the new. Hopefully it will have the right supported graphics card/driver. Thanks again!

therealtimshady: help. i cant find the nvidia control panel people are talking about. i have a HP laptop but i dont know anything else about it
Look in Control Panel. Mine is listed under NVIDIA PhysX (32-bit). I never even looked at the system requirements before I bought this game. It never occurred to me that my system wouldn't run it.
I have an Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5870 card. I know it will support at least OpenGL 3.2, ....

edit:

What happened is when I ran the updater .exe I found for Ati it didn't install the latest drivers, but some older drivers. I went back and manually found the most recent drivers and the game is working..

only had to go through a BSOD during the driver install and now the Catalyst control center doesn't work.. but hey! Grim Fandango is working now! :D

I ended up with an 800 x 600 screen on my laptop trying to fix drivers. System Restore ftw.

After a couple of days investigating, I'll just share what I have found. My system is a HP ProBook 4730s with onboard Intel gfx that supports up to OpenGL 3.0. I also have another gfx installation - an AMD HD6490M mobility card that is *capable* of running Open GL 4.0 BUT it is disabled by the HP setup so that all Open GL apps revert to the Intel card.

SO ...

1 card can't run it (Intel)
1 card won't run it (AMD)

I have loaded it on my partner's desktop and I'm playing it on there. :D

You could try the drivers here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64

Not sure what os so you probably have to select the correct one but the radeon HD6000M series should be supported.

The AMD gfx is not selected if Open GL is needed. It defaults to the Intel card which runs Open GL 3.0 only. My system doesn't allow the AMD card to run it because all Open GL apps have to be run off the Intel card.

My AMD drivers are up to date.
