I've been waiting for this to finally come to GOG. It was the reason I found GOG in the first place as I checked to see it GOG had it but I was disappointed they didn't but I found several other games on GOG that I was interested in.

Now I got like 200+ games on GOG or more. I haven't counted but I know it's way up there. And now finally this game is coming and I'm excited as hell about it. So I can't understand why there's so much hate right now? I think my post is the first positive one in the forum so far. People are bashing it before it's even been released saying "don't buy it" and all sorts of other nonsense. They know they're going to buy it. Everyone should buy this game. It's a classic and a very fun adventure game. Can't wait for it to be released at the end of the month.

A discount for pre-ordering would be considerate - even if just a dollar off. That's my only complaint. Otherwise there's not much use in pre-ordering it.

Don't bother. It's mostly misinformation about the company, mistaking 'remaster' with 'remake', etc...

In the end, there's nothing to worry about. From the videos it looks stellar.
Grim Fandango FTW!

I normally wait for the games to go on promotion before buying but made an exception with this!

LucasArts classic.

Best go, am going to be late for the poisoning.
I see no reason to preorder a title that offers no incentives; it's far better to wait and see if they've done a good job first.

I'll agree with that.
Yes this is a refinement of the art assets, music, platforms support, control options, etc. Should be much easier than patching, modding, and tweaking that's currently needed (pain in the neck, & couldn't get it to run without bugginess after patching & residual, what a noob?). Platform support will include windows 7 64-bit PC's. (personally I'm avoiding Win 8 & up becuz they break games!!).

Just wanted to play this famed game all the way through smoothly and (gasp!) actually finish the game. Looking forward to tryng gog release. The art will be better, the control options will be improved, the music will be improved. What's not to like if it's turnkey and runs smoothly?

Remastering - See:
look at rockpapershotgun, at /2014/02/25/mod-removes-grim-fandango-tank-controls-world-cheers/
look at wikipedia's Grim_Fandango see "remastered version" section
look at incgamers . com, at /2014/08/grim-fandango-remastered-features-outlined-in-new-video
Note some gorgeous screenshots compared to original. Lots more detail, depth, lighting and color richness.

So I'm really happy Grim Fandango remastered is coming to GOG.

I'm particularly glad (thrilled, actually) to see Tim and his team are including mod for point-click control scheme as one optional control scheme. Personally I dislike needing different keys to move the character around and so on during adventure games. I am probably unusual in that for games that have only WASD, I hate keyboard movement even though my hands are fine, I just never got used to it, seems cumbersome and dislike learning spate of new key commands for each game, so when a really fine game only has WASD-type controls, I set up Pinnacle with an ergonomically comfy handheld controller instead. But my favorite is point-click because it's just easy.

Mouse-control option for others:
Also, I have spent the last year researching which games can be played by one-handed players (disabled, wounded, arthritic, whatever!) and games that include option and design to use point click with few keyboard keys, and multiple fast key combinations not needed, are a blessing. All you young healthy 10-fingered gamers, don't assume everyone is like that forever. And don't assume everyone has full agility and all 5 fingers on one hand, either. Don't assume a pricey Razr mouse with 16 buttons can be used by everyone. I have seen temporarily wounded gamers and permanently disabled gamers on gamer forums specifically asking for good games that can be played one-handed with mouse or mouse-mostly. What made me aware of this is we have a good buddy who's stuck within a scrunched up paralyzed body and can move his head and two fingers slowly on one hand - and games are a big relief for him, as well as a social thing, as well as an active mind venue. Gog.com has been a great place to find many games of all types (adventure, rpg, rts, sim) that he can play mouse-mostly, and without needing a high-end pc rig either. No he doesn't want to play with his mouth if he doesn't have to -he likes using the mouse with his 2 fingers hand.

So some of the gamer population like me just likes point-n-click when available. Some of the gamer population has no choice in the matter and cannot play some great games because they can't use a controller nor afford expensive assistance technologies that usually don't interface with every type of game software all that well anyway.

Unless of course they raise the price on 27th :-)

Not that they've indicated they will.

Prolly just a marketing ploy. One that I've fallen for cos I blumin' love this game.

Still haven't made it to the poisonin'
I'm so very happy that finally Grim Fandango is back! I've been waiting for this game to be available since I found out GOG.com. Thank you so much!!!

Your choice, of course.

Naturally, the success of the scheme might determine whether GOG will even be considered as a release platform for future games.

I think the total sales on GOG are important and not so much the numbers of pre-orders. I think it is totally natural to wait for some reviews if you don't have anything to lose. Better safe than sorry.

Certainly true. I'm as much against the pre order culture as Jim fucking Sterling son himself.

Here, I was kind of under the impression that as soon as we hit release day, people would buy from Steam again. Would be really nice for GOG if their sales were somewhere in the two digit percentage realm because of that pre order ploy...

If I have the choice between Steam "you have the right to ... nothing ... but give me all your money DRM" or GOG "we love you gamers and DRM is for losers" I know what I'd chose :)
