I've checked the Common Multiplayer problems.

Trying with v1.1.6.0 (x64). The game says UPnP is available. Running the test says my IP address matches. I've manually forwarded ports 27016, 42805, and the range of 42852-42872. I'm playing on Windows 10 version 1909 build 18363.693.

I only own the base game, none of the DLC.

My friend and I can see each other's servers but can't connect to each other. I've also tried joining random open servers and they always fail, too.

What else can I do to get multiplayer to work? I bought this game specifically to play multiplayer. I don't really enjoy playing this type of game solo.

Does your friend only have the base game as well? Or do they have the expansions?

If the latter then there are a couple of things you can do

or

We both have only the base game.
Me and my friend had the same issue when we played last year, just got back into it and had it again. Couldn't remember exactly how we fixed it last time so here's what we did now.

Admin privelages on Grim Dawns exe. Exceptions on anti-virus and firewall for Grim dawn. Now none of these worked or they might have assisted in getting it to work, not sure. But what finally let him join my server was removing the password and making sure he clicked the Join button at the bottom right of the screen and not hit enter or double clicked it etc.. Somehow that let him join.

I just tried all that. None of it worked. I've tried joining random public servers and none of them work. It just shows a loading screen for about a minute then kicks me back to the server browser with a message saying "Unable to connect to server"

I've noticed something else: On the server list, none of the servers show anything in the ping tab. Is that normal?

I've also noticed that when I check the box to hide locked games, the server list hides them. But then sometimes when I click on a server to join, all the information for that server I clicked on changes to a different server, which may or may not be locked. This makes me distrust anything I see in the server list, and I can no longer be sure the game is actually trying to connect to the server I am selecting in the list. It could be that what is displayed on screen doesn't match what the game is actually trying to connect to, so my repeated failures could be due to trying to join a locked or expansion server when I think I'm trying to connect to an open base-game server.

i got everything too... i can connect to 1% of all the games there are maybe even 0% at times.... they had in the very beginning that you could atleast see what ping others got... they broke that and never fixed it again.. i even see video's where people have a total different screen then me what is weird. like a different start screen or multiplayer join screen when they have everything the same as me not using mods of sorts... why even bother to put multiplayer in when some of the latest fixes killed it... so they leave us well ive seen a lot of people complaining about it a broken game on multiplayer connection adn screen? money grab so stay away i say...
Linked this over in a thread about it on the forum so the devs can see it.
I just tried again with v1.1.6.1 (x64) and I still can't connect to anything.

It's a shame because I've heard a lot of good things about this game. I really wanted to play through it with friends. But I'm simply not interested in playing it solo.
Same here. It just does not work 99% of the time. It's better to buy Steam version. AFAIK at least it works on multiplayer.

I'm dissapointed with GOG on this.
Just went through this frustration with the latest version too. Scoured the internet and tried every solution -- I do some network support for a living so I'm not unknowledgeable about these things. It just doesn't work reliably with certain computers, and one of our computers (nearly identical setup and situation) never can connect. Gave up. Just not worth the aggravation.
Good to know I am not the only one with this SAME issue. I just put up a post today asking why I can't connect. Obviously others can. I see their games, but can't join. It doesn't make any sense at all. It seems like it is a known issue as well. You would think that there would be a solution to the problem, other than buying the game all over again on Steam.
i've been experiencing this issue too, but i think i found the cause: crossplay.

All the people i was able to connect to are using GOG galaxy
The games i was not able to connect to are using Steam.

I opened a support ticket for this issue, i advise everyone to do the same to get it on their radar asap.

Ugh, thanks dude. I was just going to support the GoG version but this is the one hang up I wanted to avoid.

I want the 4 player co-op to be smooth. Divinity has mastered this. They have seamless crossplay on the SWITCH...
Can anyone advise if this issue is resolved or if any of you were able to host\join games? I'm also a bit flustered by this issue and not sure if the problem is with me or with the platform.

I've tried to join and it was successfull about in 2 cases from 10. When I have connected, I asked host from which platform he's playing. Twice 2 got answer "steam"...
I totally do not understand how it works. And yeah, the problem is pretty famous to Crate and GOG.
