Ive playing this game from release until now. After 1 year of playing other games i return. Even with newest patch+new extension the game keeps crashing to desktop.

I cant fight Primordian (or something like that is his name). First try i get to 50%. Last fight he does one attack until i see my desktop...
Cant belive this is still a thing.

Hi fw1338.

Could you please post your PC specifications here?
This is happening for me as well.

So far without FG, no issue.

Installed FG earlier today, and had 3 crashed to desktop, no apparent reason / related issue. 2 times on map fighting, once in Homestead.

No error message, no nothing. Just like closing application with Task Manager / Alt+F4.

Win10, i7-6700, NVidia 1060, 8GB Ram, Samsung SSD.
i5-6400
gtx 1080
16gb Ram
2560x1440
win10 64bit

No overclock or other stupid experiments.
Runnig GD in 64bit with all settings enabled/maximum.

Killed him now without launching GD by Galaxy launcher (=32Bit). No crash so far.. (30minutes). To be fair, the first crash happens after more then 2 hours.

Hi lucidream.

Assuming you are running the 64-bit version of the Windows 10 OS, the issue you are encountering with the "Forgotten Gods" expansion installed, is due to instability introduced with the x64 (64-bit) version of the game (quite possibly related to the Windows 10 build).
The issue has been aknowledged by the development team within hours of its release and is breing looked into. Until a hotfix comes up, it is suggested to run the x86 (32-bit) version of the game located in the "Grim Dawn" folder.
If you are running GOG Galaxy or using the "Launch Grim Dawn.exe" to start the game, the 64-bit version will boot by default, since your OS would be the 64-bit version of Windows 10.
In order to run the 32-bit version of the game you have to use the executable named as "Grim Dawn.exe" located in the "Grim Dawn" folder, instead of the one located in the "x64" subfolder, which runs the 64-bit version of the game.
Now, your game including the latest expansion, should run flawlessly.

Hi again fw1338.

I noticed you are running the game on a 2K resolution.
The first thing that comes to mind is that there might be a VRAM/RAM leak after long gaming sesions, due to the game engine having a hard time rendering consistently in such a high resolution. I would suggest trying out if a smaller resolution offers you stability past the two (2) hour mark, as well as turning down or disabling the anti-aliasing setting.
It could also be the interaction between the game and the OS. Windows 10 are known to cause stability/performance issues with games, after installing new updates. If you suspect as such, attempt to uninstall all the updates since you first noticed your game started crashing, via the "Control Panel",
under the "Programs"->"Programs and Features"->"View Installed Updates"->uninstall by right clicking on an update.
If you could monitor you GPU/CPU temperatures and VRAM/RAM usage in the course of a session, using the "MSI Afterburner" software, it could help to eliminate or prove the possibility that a leak causes the crashes. You can choose the indicators you want to be monitored by going to the "Settings"->"Monitoring"->"Active hardware monitoring graphs" section->ticking the values in the "Graph" row->ticking "Show in On-Screen Display" under the "Framerate graph properties" section.

I hope this was helpful. Do let me know what you find out.
Cheers.

I thank you for your recommendations, but tbh... if a 1080 cant run this game in 2k, the first thing i will do is to refund it.

Iam aware of the update problems, but they dont touch me in most cases. Iam running 1709.

Neither cpu nor gpu is overheating. I'd estimate it around 60°C (yes, i know what you are thinking right now) caused by noise of the blowers. If I suspect the temperature, i will use cpu-z/gpu-z. As I told in a previous post: no stupid experiments (as afterburner is).

Nevertheless, 32Bit gd runs for a couple of time without crashing. This has been tested without changing anything else.

Cheers

Same problem. Game used to be very stable. Now I'm unable to play it when I got the FG dlc. It crashes to the desktop without any errors.
I have Win10, Nvidia 980ti with latest drivers.

I'll also give it a try, sounds like yeah, the 64 version has some trouble for stability. Mostly I tried to do some crucible, impossible to continue it after wave 5... will give you an update on your technique!
I had no problem with GD since very long, and now it's worst than decade with TQ,
the game freezes and I must restart my pc, I can't even reach program manager.
Edit: Yeah, running 64b version.

Hi!
And thanks for the tip. Somehow I missed reading that post. The 64bit version crashes after 1-5 minutes of playing, but so far the 32bit seems stable. So now I'm able to continue. Thanks again!
x86 crashes too
