Hi everyone,

My name is Jason Carver. I work for Viva Media and Encore Software in the community support department and I am here today to welcome all of you to our release on GOG.com for Gray Matter. We had been discussing GOG.com for awhile, as Steam was one of our first big retail outlets we launched our games on. Steam is a pretty big deal as they reach out to customers worldwide. And GOG.com is just as big when it comes to these kinds of games as players can choose how and where they play their games and buy them as well.

Gray Matter was a discussion between myself and the people I work with. Every week I do weekly reports for the stuff I've encountered online pertaining to our games. Since I am a customer of GOG I took a look at the game submission threads to see if our games were being suggested. Sure enough I found Gray Matter. Not too long ago I submitted this idea to my managers. Within about 1 and a half weeks I got an email from them that they submitted all the assets of our version of Gray Matter to GOG. I was excited. We originally wanted to release this right away as it was an exciting thing but there was a small delay of about a month to see if other platform versions of this game was possible to develop. Well here it is today, for everyone to enjoy.

This is our first entry from Viva Media on GOG and I'm sure there will be more to come in the future!

Enjoy!

Thanks for your personal commitment Jason. It's good to see publishers open to DRM-free releases. I hope the game will be a success for you on GOG and you bring some more titles, like Wildlife Park Tycoon or Black Mirror II + III.
Just wanted to say thanks for bringing Gray Matter to GOG. Its such a fantastic game, and now even more people (myself incuded) get to enjoy it DRM free! :D

It's had a DRM free version on Shinyloot for a while now. Still, its great that it's here finally.

Thank you Jason, hoping to see more adventures from Viva Media here.
Thank you so much! I'd been looking for this game for a little bit, but for the life of me I could not remember the title. I'm excited to finally get the chance to play it!
Thanks for your affords, hoping to see more great Viva titles on here.
Thank you, Jason! I am really pleased to see that game here and hope your plan to bring more will be successful.
Thank you a lot for this GOG version of this beautiful game and thank you for those kind posts in the forum.

Now i have a question for you. My game shows me the texts too quickly !
I don't even have the time to read the end of a single line (so it is worst when there are 3...) !
And i'm french, so i must translate as quickly as i can...

Is it a bug ? Is there some option i missed ?

Please help me i really don't want to miss half of the story.

Thanks a lot.

P.S. : Do a french version exist ? Is it possible to upload it on GOG too ?
The subtitles of a comment are displayed as long as the voice over lasts. Normally that's long enough to read it since you can read faster than a comment is spoken. So the question is, if the voice over is present. If not the mentioned problem can happen but then something went wrong during the installation.

I don't have the gog version of the game, but the versions of the game that have the german/english localizations I know are EFIGS multilingual (this refers only to the subtitles though). Have a look at the installation folder of Gray Matter for a tool named config.exe. If it's there start it. You can choose a couple of video options and the languages that are supported by the game. I think it's not unlikely that french subtitles are supported.

Thank you for your answer, but not all the texts are said by the character and the config.exe only changes graphic settings (and language, but i only get DE and ENG versions).

I have found a solution by reading Samantha's Diary, she's carrying with her. Every text is written there so i can pick up the ones I missed.

Greetings.

Can you give an example?
Because normally every comment and conversation have voice over. If the voice over is missing for a comment or conversation something went wrong during the installation or something doesn't work like it should.

Ok - then this version only supports english/german.
According to the Steam shop page for Gray Matter the Steam version also have french subtitles.

Do you have the game installed on an external hard drive?
I had similar text problem (along with no music in the title screen or cut scenes) but it got fixed when I installed the game on the main drive.

If you need French subtitles, this patch might help you, but I haven't tested it myself.

It's no surprise that it's only English and German. Just look at GOG's game card of Gray Matter.
Thanks for releasing the game on GOG. I already had the retail release but I bought it here too.
