It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Before I file in a ticket or bother the support team, I want to ask if anyone has had a similar problem.
My game won't launch at all. I can hear the HD working, but nothing launches except an 'error' message (I've included a screencap).
I've tried reinstalling, updating my drivers, and disabling sounds and generally just tweaking the .ini file to no luck.
I'm running XP with the latest servicepack. My system specs are much greater than the required - I can run Gothic 2 with no problems at all.

I can't have Steam windows open as well.

brasop: closing chrome worked for me too. bizarre.
The latest browsers all use the video card for hardware acceleration of web content; this will be why Gothic II has trouble accessing the hardware at the same time. :)

Hey Ron,

That black screen is happening because the game is building its cache, so it could run properly later on.
This only happens first time you install the game, not every time you run it.

The solution: install the game, let it run, and please allow up to 15 minutes for the game to finish building it (for example on my PC it took about 5 minutes).
Please post back if it worked!

All the best.
Im running win 7 64 bit.

For me it was the Spotify extension; Lyrify.exe, that prevented the game from launching.
supid questiom once game is installed, were do you go to play it? I go to my games but it only bring up intall?
It was setpoint.exe that caused this for me - an app related to my Logitech mouse. Closed it via task manager and Gothic then worked OK. This is on Windows 7 32-bit.
Hey Guys

For me it was the newest update of sykpe, Version 7.15. that caused problems.

I updated skype -> couldnt start gothic 2 anymore. Took me half an hour of thinking, then deinstalled skype again
-> gothic 2 works.

After the new downloading and installation of skype now both work...

Generally if it used to work and now doesnt anymore, think about what u changed recently
