GOG, is it possible to hear for you all to know what the likelihood of getting Gorky 17 fixed and running properly?
That is; how likely is it that the Graphics Bug that causes the game to crash will be resolved?
I am just looking for an honest update as to the status of this issue.
Thanks

I can confirm that after disabling the default win95 compatibility, the game seems to work well in software mode (menu is slow, but usable, game itself is fine).
With the compatibility enabled, sound stutters like crazy even in menu.
But yeah, the game is working as it should...good.
I wish I'd have checked the forums before wasting my money on this broken piece of crap....why are they even selling it if so many people are having problems. GOG just looking for easy money
BTW

It's strange but on win8 Gorky works perfectly. Better than on xp. =)

This is metropolis coders fault. Not gog. Don't blame them.

Er, how is it working perfectly for you. I'm getting a weird graphics glitch where the characters disappear behind the environment.

Edit: fixed my problem- use software renderer setting. I have a win 8 64 pro, with gtx 670. This game can work on win 8, people. Hallelujah.

Game runs fine for me in win7x64 after switching to software mode.
I changed NOTHING else and it runs smooth.

Now if only there were enough ammo to actually kill every boss. >.>
If my solution works for you, please go to the 6th page of Gorky 17 reviews and give it a thumb up. Thanks!

+++ How to Run Gorky 17 - Modern Computer, Hardware Mode +++

Quick tutorial - tested on Windows 10 64 bit.

1. DON'T set the game in a compatibility mode (seriously);
2. Download D3D Overrider;
3. Add Gorky 17 to D3D Overrider;
4. At this point game works (with broken cut-scenes, and horrible 640x480 upscaling)

5. Download DxWnd
6. Add Gorky 17
7. Check: Run in Window, Hide Desktop Background, Keep Aspect Ratio, Desktop Center.
8. Set resolution to: 640x480 (native) or 800x600 (playable upscaling) or 960×720 (taste dependent).
9. Save and run the game - should work without problems.

10. Near the end you'll fight with two Incubus. That's the only crash I encountered.
11. Quick Fix: for this fight only, turn on the software mode in the game settings. After the fight: save & turn on the hardware mode.

12. Hope for the HD remake :))

If I add the game in D3D Overrider, nothing changes. Do I just have to add the exe there?
If I try to start the process in DxWind it reports "Create process error 740".
1. Yes, you have to add the .exe + choose on the right side = Triple buffering ON, VSync ON
Just to be sure -> minimize the overrider, don't close it

2. Righ-click on dxwnd.exe, choose "run as administrator"

Hope it helps.
Copypasta-ed from Steam discussions:

I was able to run Gorky 17 with Direct3D, so it looks way better than Software Renderer mode.

1. Go to this site: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2.html and download latest dgVoodo version.
2. Unpack it and open dgVoodooSetup.exe
3. Go to DirectX section. Unselect all but Behavior boxes. Select VRAM = 128MB. Select your screen resolution. Set MSAA 8x (idk but it works for me).
4. Press Apply, then OK.
5. Go to MS folder (in dgVoodoo folder), and copy two dll files.
6. Paste them to your Gorky17 folder.
7. Run game and select dgVoodoo/Direct3D HAL, hardware zoom option makes no difference for me.

Enjoy "smooth and beautiful" graphics!
Steam guys seems to have luck using this method on Win10.
If the latest dgVoodoo doesn't work, try old versions. Someone had luck with 2.51.

Good day,
I just installed latest version of the game and it's crashing after intro videos.

Can't find any error/crash log of the game, only messages from Windows Event Viewer:

I use Windows 8.1 Pro (x64), NVIDIA Driver 441.66/
Tried different rendering mode at game launch, but without success.

Is it way to debug this problem and find cause?

Ready to provide any diagnostic information that could be collected.

Doesn't work for me in hardware of software mode, all I see is a small portion of the screen

could it be related to my graphics card (Radeo RX 5700 XT)?

Edit: I got it working, I had to fiddle around with the directx executable
