GOG, is it possible to hear for you all to know what the likelihood of getting Gorky 17 fixed and running properly?
That is; how likely is it that the Graphics Bug that causes the game to crash will be resolved?
I am just looking for an honest update as to the status of this issue.
Thanks

Is this game just being written off and never going to be fixed? It would be nice to know one way or the other.
GOG staff have said (more often lately too) that forums are not the best place for a response, even if some of 'em check them from home.
Wouldn't mind knowing myself. Even if I've not had time to really play it.
I have written support and waiting for a response.
I think that if they can come out on the boards and have time to promote contests and the sale of new games they should have the time to talk about what is happening with this title.
It is like they have forgotten about this game and are content with the sales they initially made from it.
This lack of response or action has shaken my faith in GOG in the long term.
If they start treating other games this way then they will slowly but surely lose sales and people.
If you have any problems with any of our games please open a ticket with our support.
Concerning the Gorky17 case... Please try to run the game without hardware acceleration on a software renderer. Developers didn't left it there for nothing. (it'll help you in most cases)

As you can see above I have opened a ticket with no response thus far.
Also, the Software Render is terrible and makes the game looks like trash. I really think GOG needs to fix this issue and simply tell people to run it in an inferior manner.
If this is the case, and this is the tact you are going to take GOG should be up front before people buy the game and tell them that it only works with Software Rendering.
At this point it is a waste of $6.00 and it has been uninstalled from my hard drive.

GOG.com does not rewrite games. We don't have access to the source code nor have the rights do so. It is possible to play the game with the options provided by the developer. IMHO that said developer put that option there for a reason. Besides it is not true that the game can be played only with software renderer on ALL machines.
Also I know that you've opened a ticket - it was meant for all the other users who would have experienced any problems concerning this or any other of our games. As a staff member I have access to the information concerning your correspondence with us. ;) All of it. ;]

You do not rewrite games, that is understandable, but....Metropolis is part of CDP just as you are, no? Do you really not have access to the source code when your own colleagues made the game? would it not be possible to spare two programmers for a while and fix the rendering problems on latest graphics cards?
Software renderer is really horrible...it runs beautifully on HW, except for those graphic artefacts..

Yes, GOG.com is a part of CDProjekt as well as Metropolis. Oh... How would I like that to made the world an ideal place to live and run business. :) Metropolis wont spare us their programmers because they have their own projects. Not to mention the fact that two programmers wouldn't be enough to rewrite the game engine. The same thing is with the source code. We don't hold any rights to rewrite the game. Having the source code is another thing but we don't have it nonetheless.
As a matter of fact we're working on a long term project that could solve the issue. But for now you can choose between two options that Gorky17 developers gave you: beautiful with artefacts or less appealing but clean graphics.

Thanks for clear explanation.I will look forward to that long term project, even if it means waiting a loong time..there are other games I can play in the meantime.
you could at least test the games before putting them on sale. this is the first game i have bough of GOG that doesn't work, but now my fear is how many others might not work? i don't think ill be using this site again, as i don't like giving away my money for nothing. poor show GOG, poor show.

I have slowed my purchases with GOG down and I do not buy anything for GOG any longer without checking the forums to see if others are having problems.
It appears that Gorky is not going to be fixed, and so for those with newer Nvidia cards it will simply not run properly. I hope I am wrong, but I see nothing happening to think otherwise.
high rated
Please don't lose hope in us, we fixed duke nukem prism3d bug and we're trying our best to fix this problem with Gorky too . I can't guarantee the results but please stay tuned .
GOG~ you know I love you and I will probably be a life long fan. When I first jumped on I got excited to replay all my child hood games... and even a few new ones. I have to say, however, that I am in the same boat as some other members.
I still love you, I haven't lost faith in you, but it has become harder to purchase your games. Gorky is just one game out of the many you offer and I haven't had problems with any other games. But please, don't give up on finding a solution. I really want to play Gorky properly and I am waiting to play it.
Thanks for all your hard work and love.
Any progress? I already own this game, but I remember this bug ruining the game for me. But I'm willing to buy it agin from here if it'll be fixed. So what's the status? :)
