GOG, is it possible to hear for you all to know what the likelihood of getting Gorky 17 fixed and running properly?
That is; how likely is it that the Graphics Bug that causes the game to crash will be resolved?
I am just looking for an honest update as to the status of this issue.
Thanks

luka666: Depends. Does it work for you? It works for me, the only thing i had to do is rename the AVI folder....
I dunno, I opened this forum and read that it was broken and didnt bother to download. But if people have it working Ill give it a shot, though I want to finish VtM:B first.

Is it really that hard to rename/delete a folder? Because my game isnt broken. It works just fine...
What do you mean?
The game works for me after appying the fix described at
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/gorky_17/beware_of_ffdshow_video

I use Win7 x64 with Radeon 5850, 11.4 preview drivers.
Tried that fix, it didn't work. Hell, it won't even run on software mode.
I found that fix, and it helps. But that enables you to run the game, that's all. More problems arise after that, like the damed flickering...
more than 2 years since the last blue post and it seems nothing was done

If the GoG team is working on something then I think it should at least let us know here
Well the fix lets me watch the intro vids, at least, but once they're over the game crashes to desktop. Apparently Vista's Data Execution Prevention detects an error and shuts down the game to prevent damage to my computer. I'd turn it off, but I'm not sure if that's safe.
If your computer has a Creative soundcard installed and your experiencing choppy audio when you run the game in software mode, then ALchemy should be able to fix that.
NOTE: This will only work in Windows Vista or later.

Fire up ALchemy, it should be supplied with the latest drivers package, otherwise you can download it from www.creative.com. Add a new entry >> Enter any name, and add your gamedir where gorky17.exe is located as gamepath, ie c:\program files (x86)\gog.com\gorky17\ . No need to change settings.

I'm also having the issues discribed in this topic using Win7 with a GeForce GT 330M grfx card with the latest possible compatible driver installed:

- Missing textures but fine audio in Direct3D mode (alt-tab doesn't work for me)
- Very choppy menu and audio, but fine textures in Software mode

This is really annoying...

This is disgusting. Almost 3 years and nothing. Luckily I didn't buy this from GoG, I have the original and it works wonderfully on my old gaming machine. But from now on I will know to not even bother buying from GoG, ever and will instead buy the original CDs to play on my old computer.

At the very least you should be offering refunds to those affected!
I just purchased this as well and couldn't wait to play it on my day off. It doesn't work. Had I read these forums beforehand I would have passed it over.

3 years and nothing. Really?
Same here. I can view the videos just fine, but the second i'm past that and about to hit the main menu screen it crashes. (Black screen, maybe half a second of music playing, tops.)

So that's... interesting. (The fixes proposed on the forum also didn't help so far.)
I tried all suggestions as well. I have some old ATI cards laying around. Guess I'll just have to piece together a rig to play this game.

Or you could use WIndows XP Mode.
