GOG, is it possible to hear for you all to know what the likelihood of getting Gorky 17 fixed and running properly?
That is; how likely is it that the Graphics Bug that causes the game to crash will be resolved?
I am just looking for an honest update as to the status of this issue.
Thanks

Cedr: Any progress? I already own this game, but I remember this bug ruining the game for me. But I'm willing to buy it agin from here if it'll be fixed. So what's the status? :)

The same as before. As soon as GOG has news for us, they will be posted (and, most proably, stickied).

Yes, but nearly 7 months with no real update or information is disappointing. With more and more games coming out from GOG, Gorky 17 will fall deeper into the cracks it seems.

Not necessarily. Duke: MP was fixed looooong after the release :)
And it's not like game is unplayable.
I remember playing this game along time ago as a demo. I would buy it but untill they get the bugs out of this one, I will wait
Well, it is unplayable for me. No response to my ticket so far. I tried a lot of the fixes people have posted but nothing works.
Update for posterity: I got a reply from tech support and after deleting adjust.tdk from the game directory and updating my drivers, the game runs fine.

I am not sure this is the total answer, but if it is, then GOG should be posting it as an official fix to the issue.
I have deleted the adjust.tdk file and updated my drivers. The game launches, but the main title screen is completely empty. I can guess and click in "the dark" to start the game, but loading (again, I'm clicking in a blank window, hoping to click the right thing) crashes the game.
What's going on :(

Faithful: Did not help me. I have the latest drivers installed.
I have performed a complete format and re-install of Vista, so this is on a clean system.
When I delete the Adjust.tdk file, main menu displays black - no text, no mouse pointer.

I have the game running now, with the only problem being a laggy menu screen.
when running in software renderer, the audio was all screwed up, and the other two options wouldn't work as the game would crash after the intro video.
Then today I wanted to play Gothic, so I used this fix
http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-games/35485-gothic-i-ii-not-working-windows-7-a.html (9th post)
After installing this fix (which works but the game lags if draw distance is too high) I decided even if the audio is screwy I would put up with it and try to play Gorky 17.
Instead, the dialog in the game is running fine in software renderer, and I am not experiencing any graphical errors. No invisible characters, wierd lines, etc.
It is just running with no problems, except that the menu is laggy, but the game is running great. I played for an hour getting my butt kicked, saved, reloaded to make sure it was ok. It was. Played a little more, shut off my computer, came back, loaded it up.
So if you have Gothic and want to play Gorky 17 try this and see if it works for you as it does for me.
My specs are GeForce 8400gs 512 mb, 2.2 Ghz processor, 2 Gb RAM, and I have the latest drivers installed.
I know next to nothing about computers, but this is the only thing I have put on my computer since installing Gorky 17, so confirmation would be great.
edit: I forgot to mention that Both Gothic and Gorky 17 are located in my GOG folder, as I bought both games from this site. This may also be a factor in getting it to work.

I wish GOG would fix this game someday.
To me the real problem is that they're still selling it with no disclaimer. I don't feel they can be faulted for not being able to fix it as long as they're still trying, but not letting people know of the issue feels very dishonest. Yes, the game is technically playable using the developer's options, but it's far from optimal: It's a huge chore to do so when the screen is flashing every two seconds, and it doesn't look as good as it should. It's a game; I buy games to play and enjoy them, and I can't enjoy Gorky17 in Software Mode.

Furthermore, the fact of the matter is that since the solution right now is to use an older graphics card, /most customers/, not just a few, are going to have to run the game in a reduced capacity, and that number is only getting bigger as time goes on and people get new graphics cards.

Honestly, if such a disclaimer was in the catalogue, I still would have bought it in the hopes that they find a fix for it someday or I can scrounge up an older video card. But at least I would have known what I was getting into.

I hope it does get fixed. I really like the game, playing it with the sound off, was the only way I could tolerate it, but now I get to a point and it completely crashes. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this (not because I'm a jerk, just because I know I'm not doing anything wrong ;) ).
OK so I didnt look at the forum first but are you saying I just bought a broken game???
Depends. Does it work for you? It works for me, the only thing i had to do is rename the AVI folder....
