Hey guys,

Found this mod while searching for any sort of unofficial patches, add-ons to see if I could help with the graphics problem in my own small way.

Unfortunately, you have to subscribe to gamespot in order to download this file. Maybe there's a GOGer who has an account and can host the file somewhere else?
Here you go.
I don't actually have an account on gamespot, but bugmenot.com helped.

Thanks, I, and anyone else who wishes to download this mod hassle-free, appreciate this!

Since that link is dead for whatever reason, and I do have a Gamespot account (unfortunately), I grabbed it from them and uploaded to my Megaupload account. Here you go! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4I6E6Z1E
Oops, I didn't know that hoster deleted files after a while. :) Thanks for uploading it again!
Son-of-a... I just clicked on that link and got an F.B.I. notice. When did this happen?

ETA: Nvm. Just read about it. lol

It's funny how Megaupload went down less than a week after the file was uploaded.

Anyway, let's try another hosting.
Gorky 17 Difficulty Mod
Post edited February 10, 2012 by Koshachiy-Barin
With everything I've heard about this game, a mod to increase the difficulty seems like it would be the last thing somebody would want. I'd be more inclined to purchase the game (it's in my wishlist) if there was one that went the other direction and decreased the difficulty, instead.

The game in which nearly every boss can be stunned and killed without taking any damage isn't that scary. Hell, I've never seen the attack animation of the final boss and my guys killed him with the axe and bayonets we had since the starting area, using guns just for the sake of relieving the pockets of dozens of rounds.
There are about 3-4 tough fights in the game, which might give you trouble every time. The rest are pure puzzles that might be hard to crack initially, but are ludicrously easy on replays.
I'm not sure where you got "scary" from, cause I've yet to be intimidated or frightened by games (unless you count some agoraphobia-induced anxiety from something like Endless Ocean's depths).

I suppose my main concern is that I've seen more than a few people talk about how difficult the game can be. Early fights that can easily kill you, running out of ammo for weapons, that sorta thing. Since I typically play games without using guides, I wouldn't know if bosses can be stunned until I tried, and since that's typically not possible in most RPGs, I probably wouldn't have ever thought to do it.

This is a game in which a flamethrower has infinite ammo. :) Works wonders if you set some small enemy on fire from behind (for damage bonus), stab it in the back and the sides, and when the enemy turn starts, they get killed by fire damage. Everybody happy, gets XP for dealing hits, and boosts weapon use skills that further increase damage.

Did I mention that as you go along the game goes a far as hand you out three pretty much instant kill items with area effect?
- Hello, we are the strong evil guys and the penultimate fight of the game!
- Oh, hi... Have an orbital ion cannon strike! Ok, where's that lazy boss bastard I've got a stun dart and a ballistic missile for him...
I don't know why my Gorky 17 mod is unavailable on Gamespot.

You can download it from:

Game without mod is far to easy :)

I have yet to try this mod, but game is exactly as you say: too easy. When you learn to use some crucial weapons (flamethrower, paralyser, axe/crowbar/baseball bat) effectively, it's almoust no-brainer.

The flamethrower has infinite ammo? You're joking, right?
