Meccs have stealth, different guns, squad control. There are bases with walls, controllable turrets, mines and command center you can enter. Then there is Kabuto, which can throw enemies and lay eggs. There are portals, anti-sam flares, vehicles, Sonacs...
Tons of interesting features, but the mission design is static and repetitive. Blow up this, smash that, repeat, repeat, repeat.
Several obvious opportunities the developer missed:
1. Have longer missions with changing objectives, so that you actually use all that stuff that you can build.
2. During Mecc missions have Kabuto wonder at random as a third party that attacks everyone in sight.
3. Have dynamic environment that warrants the use of reaperski and that flying thing during normal missions.
Please no random Kabuto in base building missions! O_o Eek.
I would have loved to see expanded base building. Perhaps the ability to build more turrets and active defenses. As the Meccs, Tel and the lads are great and all, but I don't trust them to do too much, and they are quite incompetent against flying reapers. The option to build SAM batteries of my own would have been a welcome addition.
Delphi has such better mobility that I found those base building missions too short. I could get built up before enemy patrols got very large at all. Plus, despite Baz's millenium gun, she has way more options for wrecking large groups of enemies.
I was also hoping that as Delphi, I might be able to produce Reaper units for defense/offense.

I didn't mind the the Mecc (apart from the EPICLY LONG base building mission (took me over an hour, wouldn't have minded it could save during missions)) and Reaper missions (apart from the racing) but the Kabuto missions were pretty terrible. I stopped playing the game after I came to those (completed it a while later). Not fun at all, and controlling your minions is impossible.
sorry for rant, but how kabuto is only a decent game...it was epic then it got released, and it still is epic...
At first you might think its long and boring, but in real, base building is fast and full of action.
Maybe check some youtube videos..

You can build SAM batteries (5) as well as additional turrets (5) and a few other buildings. When you build up the base eventually, once every wall and component is fully upgraded you get the option to build the Party House - build it and then once done walk up to the main door. You will enter (like other buildings) and get to select buildings. Click a building and then on a smarty - he will join you outside and there is a command key to press (check the command key menu) to get him to build the building/drop the building whereyou want it - then return the smarty to the party house.
The original programmer from Planet Moon Studios that programmed Giants, passed away from cancer, which is probably one of the reasons Giants was never going to be carried into the future.. which sucks, the game could of been picked up by a great developer and to be made into an amazing sequel somewhere.
