And on Wine 1.4 the
shader quality now must be set to
low to avoid black movable/animated objects (seems they used the shaders from Rise of the Owlverlord, where this problem also happens).
The previous release did work inside VMware Player and Wine without problems.
I think you'll need to take that up with the developers themselves as we don't generally support virtual machines and the like. Sorry :(
