Hi guys,

We have uploaded version 1.1.2 of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. Unfortunately, due to the amount of changes that version 1.1.2 has brought, we had to make a new installer to ensure that everyone has a smooth transition from version 1.02 to version 1.1.2.

Here's what's changed:

Updates:

- A remixed mode for all levels and bosses. The remixed mode is a lot
easier to survive than its standard counterpart. The “easy” difficulty
for Giana should roughly correspond to the “normal” difficulty for
casual platformer games. And, of course, the standard and hardcore modes
are still there.
- The code has been optimized further to boost the performance of GSTD
(DirectX10/11 mode only). The improved framerate should be the most
noticeable on mid-range machines that required lower graphical settings
to run smoothly in the previous version.
- Added Japanese and Russian language support
- Added in-game menu for basic audio and controller settings
- Straight dash by default, with an option to set 45-degree default dash
in the settings
- Improved keyboard controls for more comfortable play

Bug fixes:

- Fixed an issue that caused a black screen after starting a level in
DX9 mode with some AMD/ATI setups
- Fixed a crash that could occur when playing fullscreen in DX9 mode
- Fixed a bug that clipped the mouse, keeping you from clicking on part
of the interface
- Twisting the world now causes the background to wobble properly again
- Greatly reduced the amount of flickering for shadows in DX10/11 mode
- Fixed inconsistent particle effects
- Soft shadows can now be properly selected in the menu again
- Fixed a crash that could occur when launching level 3-5
- V-sync can now be set properly above 60 Hz
- Fixed a launcher crash that could occur when starting the game
- Fixed a crash with the error message “MSVCP100.dll is missing”

Thanks and have a nice day :)

Thank you Judas.
Do you know if this includes the new Halloween content? Doesn't look like it from the patch notes.
Oh, the long awaited patch is finally there. Nice surprise!

Yes, but from the looks of it, Steam by now is on the next version of the game ;)
to get this update i need to installed the game agian?
Finally, thank you! :)
Well, it's about time. Thank you, GOG, for alerting us to the update (and, hopefully, for giving the devs a kick about it).

That said, we're still - it seems - an update or so behind as it looks like it recently got one on Steam for Hallowe'en.
Good to know...thanks for the info.

That is true. Now I am able to play this game on my 2.4 GHz i3 M370 cpu (laptop). It runs smoothly in resolution 640x480 (no shadows and no AA).

Thanks

Nice, but the new version no longer works on Windows XP inside VMware Player:

---------------------------
Fatal error!
---------------------------
d:\perforce\sb\sb_tech\src\sbrenderer\renderinterface\DX9/SBTexture_DX9.inl::SBTexture::UploadMipData(299)
Failed to create texture object 'textures\ambientgradient.dds'
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
...while loading the first level.

And on Wine 1.4 the shader quality now must be set to low to avoid black movable/animated objects (seems they used the shaders from Rise of the Owlverlord, where this problem also happens).

The previous release did work inside VMware Player and Wine without problems.

I think you'll need to take that up with the developers themselves as we don't generally support virtual machines and the like. Sorry :(

No problem, I'll do it anyway.
I just wanted to point out the lowered compatibility with VMware and Wine.
Not a good update. The latest version is horrible in my books.

* Game looks like it has been upscaled from a low resolution. It's a bit blurry on my 2560x1440 Monitor.
* Graphics are quite fuzzy
* Load times are MUCH longer
* Even the Punk Giana's "Dash" feels a bit..."off"
* When running the game through Steam, text in the Steam Overlay are jumbled - For example, text from chat windows are displayed in place of the TIme, News, Current Play Time, etc.

I already bought the game on Steam right when it was released after being Greenlit, but I also bought it from GOG quite recently because I wanted to play on the older, 1.0.2 version as it does not have ANY of these issues. I don't even need "Easy" Difficulty (Normal is easy enough for me already).

Yep. 1.0.2 actually performs quite a LOT better for me in all aspects. Shame.

Now I have to make sure I don't loose the original 1.0.0 installation file and the 1.0.2 patch. Which I'm glad I downloaded from GOG before the installations were replaced by the horrible newest version.
