I don't have a fast internet connection to download 3GB every time a patch exists.

I see, that´s a different story then but a whole game doesn´t get updated every time when a new patch is released. Only after a lot of patches are released which was the matter in this case. And if your Ethernet connection is really that slow, you could also download the game over night or when you are out of your home for example. There is always a way to handle things more relaxed. As long as you don´t have bugs personally, you could also wait with downloading the next updated game. At the moment the biggest problems got fixed already.

Game crashes and whole system locks up always wanted this obviously should have bought it on steam!
