Where the fuck in that so called wonderprogram is the forum? Where can i go to the discussions of my selected games or to the store page?
Is this a joke? I have to use my browser to get into the forum, while the client is running? Everyone is talking in big letters about this poorly programmed piece of ... software.
It serves no purpose for me as a gamer, but for gog its important that people use their steam-account with this.
I´ll stay with the steam client, it works wonderful and it is designed with care.
And it works, thats the best!
This is, like always from this CDProject and GOG, a fast shot before the lady got the panties down. They will always be inferior to steam, cause everything they do is not just half- but 1/4 - assed.
And they will never change their minds, they do it over and over again.

While your presentation leaves something to be desired, the underlying message is something I agree with.

It took them years to finally add a link from the store page to the same game forums. It's nice because you can read about the game more, look for potential bugs or problem fixes, or you know, interact with the community on occasion.

Not giving the option to involve yourself with the community (when it's otherwise there through the website) is a downgrade.

It's one of the huge stepbacks that the Epic Games store did. They have no forums there, no review system, no real community. It's just a faceless storefront. GOG does seem to be more community oriented than that, so I'm not sure why this is completely absent with the Galaxy client. Unless they wanted to rush it out before the Winter sale.
I think exactly that´s the point. They rush it. They always do such things. And i took it over the years and excused them, but GOG really works just unreliably. I dont have any memory of something that they took in their hand what was executed flawlessly. "Steam - GOG - Multiplayer" is just one of these things which is around for years. There was this game "Necropolis", which was open for pre-order and got massively advertised as "multiplayer". When it released, the multiplayer-tag on the store page vanished without a word or anything else. Just gone.
Yeah. And that became GOG for me. Once a good, trusty store. Now... the other way around. I read any promise they make and i know that it´s gonna be broken in one form or another.
I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be either, but I agree that some very BASIC things that Steam has are missing. But do keep in mind, it is still in Beta, so they might add stuff in.

Like for example we asked for game stacking instead of having 2 or 3 copies of the same game, and they delivered.

RIght now I think one major thing people are asking for is multiple game selection, but like you said, Steam has had this for years already, though their client is way older to be fair. Still, they could've waited and lifted the good ideas BEFORE declaring GoG Galaxy 2.0 in Beta state, closed or open.

I wish they just put a "Discussions" button on the game's page like Steam has, so simple.
There is such so much simple, basic stuff missing. From my experiences with Galaxy so long it i think that it will be a long time patching this client to a usable point. And while i really like to be proven wrong in this case - i think i wont ;)

that's understandable. gog does not have much resources to invest into galaxy, considering their history of slow development for site, offline installers and old galaxy I'd say it will take very long time for them to deliver stable full featured galaxy 2.0 (years?). I hope they can afford it tho. As we know development cost money and gog is not as big as Valve.

Your comparsion doesn't make mcuh sense - just look how much money Epic has and how bare is their Epic client. Or check the money Microsoft has and what they have in Microsoft store and their games on W10.

So, it's not about money or being big.
Well, this is a beta client. It's not finished. You got that.

I really can't stand crybabies like you. Just make a feature request and let it go. Why do people install beta versions of programs to complain that they are not finished. It's so stupid. :D

no, it's about money AND only then about good will to work on improvements. if you can't afford it it does not matter if you want it or or not. no money = no development

what you call "stupid" is called "giving a feedback on beta product". the only one crying about this is you.

In what world is "Where the fuck in that so called wonderprogram", "Is this a joke?", and "poorly programmed piece of ... software" considered feedback, or even helpful?

I guess we shouldn't expect much from someone who proudly places "Talkin´ bout yo Momma" beneath their name, but this is nothing but a tantrum from a spoiled child who expects everything they want, when they want it. This is magnanimously stupid to expect, and something our entire species should be weeping about.
I think like many before me have said, and I will now paraphrase. The OP's approach to this is atrocious. And while presented in a deplorable fashion, I still have to agree with the content however poorly presented it was.

While I am very impressed with 2.0 so far, I do note that it is still in beta at present. Aside from bugs some users (myself not included, as I seem to be bug free thus far) have reported. My perception as to why it is still beta stage is that there are things not yet done. The most obvious being chat integration as it is there but ghosted out so we cannot interact with it now. Also some basic conveniences are missing still. Including access to forums (via store page or elsewhere) but not limited to this. Other basic features like a user profile, and store front are also missing too. So do keep calm, and do report things or provide feedback as to what you feel could be improved. Don't be a condescending, rude, jerk about it though. Or you get tuned out and valid feedback like this post contains will fall on deaf ears.

GoG/CDPR are the good guys. There is no better options as a consumer, or any company as good for the gaming industry as they are. So a little respect shown for their efforts would have you much better received in the future. By GoG Staff and users alike.

TL;DR
Good feedback (+1), but tone it down/ dial it back some in the future.

Epic is operating at a loss trying to grow their platform. They can do this as they exploited the ever living shite out of kids via Fortnight. And they have investors backing them too (at least for now). They are giving the house away now (free game giveaways) and forking out huge bribes to create micro monopolies under the guise of "exclusives". They do not have anything worthy of competing just a bare bones store front and too much money to throw around.

GoG's approach is vastly different and healthy for gamers and the gaming industry. So while GoG may be the turtle in the proverbial race. We know from experience the rabbit's (aka EGS) isn't going to win the race with their tactics.

Also MS just launched X-box Live for PC and is doing well with that. Where as the MS stores been the butt of a joke for... well since it has existed.

So money/manpower/resources are a factor and the poster you quoted is just highlighting as much. The example works well and makes plenty of sense.

Funny how most people seem to have the same reaction here.
"What an ass... but he has a point"
Which were my exact thoughts after reading this.

You guys did all the work and yet you still managed to miss some of the most basic features.
People hate that the EGS doesn't have reviews and a forum. You could have just added that and it would be a major selling point.
You are 90% there yet we get... this...
I just don't get it. Its like you guys made a pizza and served the toppings separately on a plate... just WHY?
Why is it actually so hard to read that four letter word ?

So many words in this thread but in the end, it would have been sufficient if he just had written "I am too stupid, but I do not care"
What do you expect?

GOG Galaxy 2.0 is meant to be "ready" and will be out of beta once Cyberpunk 2077 is released.

I appreciate the effort, but it has the same development strategy as CDPR / GOG did with their website and former GOG client: make marketing buzz as hard they can, but the product itself should barely able to deliver the patches for their new game and the rest is not so important and be tinkered with for a long time and let disgruntled customers fix most of the annoyances, like they do with their web page.

I'd wish GOG Galaxy 2.0 be the killer multi-store client they intend, but this will not come to fruition if they don't enforce authentication with their user supplied integrations (read steam: you can provide your API key instead of having to do a username/password/2Factor Login).

In addition they should do the steam integration directly instead of letting it be done by some sort of "FriendsOfGogGalaxy" third party enttity... and directly integrate steam chat alongside GOG chat.

Perfect summary! lol

Though I am no fan of the EGS presently. It has little to nothing to do with the lack of forums and reviews. Granted those features I do appreciate when available, and would very much like to see them become a part of the GoG 2.0 platform. The reason I do not have an EGS account 2% because ten cent is financially involved (the Chinese isp) and I value privacy over convenience. While the other 98% is that I am anti-exclusive on PC. I'd wager the exclusives reason is by and large why most people loath that store. Creating micro-monopolies under the guise of being "exclusive" to be competitive on an open platform, is thoroughly steeped in hot wet BS. It's anti-consumer and bad for PC gaming. However on the other end of that spectrum you have GoG doing things they way it ought to be done, and (on purpose or not) working towards a better healthier industry as a result. So here's to a bright future with GoG 2.0! Hopefully the EGS will catch on and follow suit. If not just go bankrupt trying to extort gamers into using their platform, just to gain a stake in the industry as they have been.

Too bad though as I really do like the Unreal Engine (and it's terms for developers), but it's overshadowed lately by horrible games like fortnight and the exclusivity horse pucky... :(
