Dr.Bo: Is there a way to prevent GOG Galaxy to update the steam plugin?!
avatar
FlavioV: You can change the plugin version so Galaxy thinks it's already up to date. I did it back in February when the plugin decided to reimport all games every now and then and I can confirm it still works today.

1. Go to the plugin folder
2. Open manifest.json in your favorite text editor (I use Notepads but the standard notepad should work as well)
3. Change the version tag to the current release (0.50.6) or newer
4. Save it and open Galaxy

The plugin won't be updated automatically until there's a higher build available.
Where is located the manifest.json file?

Edit: i found the manifest file but when i edit it on the notepad wont let me save it.

The full path on Windows should be: %LOCALAPPDATA%\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed\steam_ca27391f-2675-49b1-92c0-896d43afa4f8\manifest.json

Make sure Galaxy isn't running otherwise the file might be in use. Take a look at the system tray, if the Galaxy icon is present right-click it and click Exit.
If it still doesn't work open task manager and finish any process related to Galaxy.

Thanks, i will try that.
have three plugins crashing: steam, uplay and origin. deleting folders did not help, and neither did ending the galaxy communication process along with the python process it just launched windows modules installer annoyingly over and over.

and python.exe keeps reappearing over and over each time i restart gog after closing it out.

Fixed it by deleting the Steam plugin folder from C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed then restarting the client.

The above worked for me

Thank you

THANK you. This fixed it for me.
For me this did not solve the problem. I had to delete the steam_*.ini file (located in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed) and then delete the mentioned folder in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed.

After that everything works fine again.

Still doesn't do it for me. And when I look at the .ini, there's only the autogenerated text.

This is what finally fixed it for me:

Close GOG Galaxy
Go to %PROGRAMDATA%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage\plugins
Delete the steam_ file
Launch GOG
Reconnect Steam integration

Had to re-enter my Steam credentials on the last step, but it works again.

Anyone having problems with the Steam plug in just saying it's 'offline' all the time?

I've recently updated Gog Galaxy to version 2.0.60 and now Steam won't integrate.

I can see a lot of people have had this problem before and possible solutions have been suggested.

I've tried deleting the 'steam_...' files at C:\Windows\ProgramData\Gog.com\Galaxy\storage\plugins

and I've deleted the 'steam_...' folder at C:\Windows\Users\[ACCOUNT NAME]\AppData\Local\Gog.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed

I've also tried deleting the steam_plugin_config.ini in that same folder

But none of these things seem to make any difference.

I log into Steam again through Gog Galaxy and input the code etc and it eventaully just says 'Offline Retry.'

Needless to say, retrying doesn't work either.

Will reverting back to Gog Galaxy 2.0.55.99 help in any way?

Also, I've noticed in the folder C:\Windows\Program Files (x86)\Gog Galaxy\plugins there only seems to be two folders: 'GalaxyPluginEpic' and 'GalaxyPluginXbox'

Should there not be a GalaxyPluginSteam folder also? Or am I misunderstanding how Gog Galaxy intergrations work?

I somehow managed to get indiegala to integrate, so I just don't know why I can't get Steam to.

Any suggestions?

How good is PlayNite that I keep see references to? Is that a better option?

I think this is because the Epic and XBox plugins are "official" ones, the rest (Steam, Ubisoft, Battlenet, Bethesda, ...) are plugins made by the community.

But same problem here, so I think the best solution at the moment is to wait and hope someone fixes the connection problem with steam...
