For the past 2 hours the Steam plugin has been crashing constantly, on clicking retry it will connect then crash again after a couple of minutes.

Had a look at the client log, don't know if the following info is useful but I'll paste it anyway:

Also getting this problem here.
Fixed it by deleting the Steam plugin folder from C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed then restarting the client.

If I do this, will I lose all of my tags, cover art, etc.?
update: Nope, you don't lose all of that data. Instead of deleting it, I cut and paste the folder into another directory instead of deleting it, just in case. When I started Galaxy back up, all of my customization was still there.

Thanks, was having this issue too.
Seems to happen after every update for me.
Edit: the removing of the folder does not appear to work for me.

Same issue.

Deleting the folder worked once before, but now it's stuck on "Connecting...". All other plugins loaded fine.
Same problem here. It even crash if I try to disconnect and reconnect my Steam account when entering the Steam guard code.
Same issue here but it used to only happen after waking the computer from sleep/hibernation. However after the last update it does it whenever.
Same.

You have to shut down galaxy>delete folder>restart Galaxy (so it regenerates the deleted plugin folder) >shut down galaxy again, and restart, now it should load all your games/plugin!

The following steps solve all the problems I have with the current version after coming out of hibernate / sleep, including the plug-in crashes.

1. Close Galaxy
2. Open Task Manager.
3. End Task on "GalaxyCommunicationService".
4. End Task on any orphaned "Python" processes (this is the most important thing for the plug-in crashes)
5. Restart Galaxy

I hope they fix this soon. It's getting pretty annoying.

Thank you for this! It solved it for me as well.
So, my steam connection just dropped today, reconnecting is a no go.
Rebooted the client, deleted the steam folder - no luck.
I'm simply met with a blank box when trying reconnect to the platform.

When the steam plugin crashes I use to keep in that way and thank god, and if it does not crash I use to switch it off permanently until it is updated or fixed in the future, the damn thing is using constantly around 15 per cent of my cpu and I have tested that it affects a lot when playing the games with a launcher which function is playing games.
