Hi, I've bought a new computer. My old one was not running properly anymore. On my old laptop, I played Chronicles of Riddick. When I load the game there, it works and it loads from the latest save-file. On my new stationary, however, I can't load from my latest save-file. The game starts from the very beginning.

That probably means my old computer saved the files locally and didn't upload them to the cloud. So here are few questions that I have:

1. Can I transfer my save files from my old computer (laptop) to the cloud and then download them on my new computer?How/where do I enable cloud save? (check question 4 before answering this, to check if my assumption is correct).

2. I can't find my save backups either on my laptop. I installed all my GOG files in the following directory D:/GOG/...
So the game itself and local save files should be in something like this right? D:/GOG/theChroniclesofriddick (but there are no savefolder/files in this folder).

I also tried checking also in C/user/myname/etc and C/x86/Galaxyclient

3. Is there anyway to find the folder where it saves from GOG client? I have tried downloading via extras --> offline backup installers, but that is just a fresh install, not my save files.

4. I tried looking into settings on the GOG client, and I have ticked all the boxes in gamefeatures --> auto update/cloud saves etc. All of them are checked for, so to my understanding, my game should upload all my progress to GOG client and then download them on a new place if I install it.

Also, it's been over 2-3 years since I last played the game if it would matter for any reason.

Anyways, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, at this point I'm just very curious more than the game progress itself! :D

1) You should be able to through Galaxy (make sure you check the game's settings to ensure cloud synchronization is enabled) but if you can't, you can pop the save files onto a USB stick or a cloud storage platform of your choice.

2) Games can sometimes store saves in unusual places. The best thing to do is to Google where that specific game stores them.

3) Not that I'm aware of, as it's up to the game where it stores your saves, not Galaxy.

4) It may be that the save files for that game are too big to be synchronized via Galaxy. If not, that could potentially just be a bug, as Galaxy still has its fair share of them and Galaxy's cloud sync does seem to be a bit finnicky at times.
Thanks for the reply.

Now I just have a few follow-up questions:

5. Where the heck are my save files? This sounds stupid, but I can't find them for my life. My thinking is that they should be saved somewhere where the game is installed, right?

6. regarding point 1. I agree, but I have to find them first. :( any ideas.

7) I don't think a 15 year old game can have too big of save files, most likely, the save synch is messed up more than the save file size :)

Any time :)

5) Typically, you find game saves in one of the following locations:
- The My Games folder in your Documents directory
- Somewhere among the folder where you installed the game
- Sometimes in the game's folder within your AppData directory

As such, you just have to either search for it or Google it, sadly.

6) Any major search engine should give you an answer to that question. While on the topic of search engines, I highly recommend Brave Search or a different alternative like Startpage or DuckDuckGo; all major search engines like Google/Bing/Yahoo are atrocious for privacy.

7) It is most likely a bug with Galaxy's sync feature but you would actually be surprised how big savegame files can get, even for older games. For example, the save folder for Oblivion (it's 16 years old) was about 10gb on my old PC due to how much time I put into the game. I'm on a new PC now and have changed the way I manage game saves so it's a lot smaller now but yeah, savegames store a lot of variable data over time. It's worse with longer games like RPGs but in general, you'd be surprised haha
