For me the new 2.0 beta clinet is really aweful.
Finding things is a lot less intuitive, I do not like the look,
and since I have the new client I do not like playing games on GoG anymore.

The client really makes me not want to play gog games anymore.

It happened several times now, that I clicked on the client wanting to play a game, and when I saw the client, I just closed it again.

Even the new symbol for me is something I do not like to click on it anymore.

I really liked gog client about 2 years ago. When it still had the new releases as the front page. GoG does not have soo many releases (but no crappy ones) this way I could always scout all new releases easily.

When this was not easy to see on the first page, it was really a bummer for me.

And now the client is just horrendous to use. I know it is my own fault for trying the 2.0 beta,
but I did not expect it to be as bad....

The start page (recent) is 100% useless for me, and I do not see why this is the start page. Especially the "recently played by others" is just annoying and unneeded.
The "store highlight" would make more sense as it was before.

I rarely clicl now on store highlight, before I looked at it, but having this ugly useless start window I just want to close the client and not waste more time with it.

Also the store highlights just look so much different from the rest of the client.

Also having to play games needs now 1 more click... Before they were just readily there on the side.
Also I liked them being ordered after what I played last.

Also on all games, having them ordered by purchase was for me way better, and I could kinda see what I bought when. Also I think before there was the tile of the game above the picture, (and it was in a list) this was soo much easier to see games than it is now. Yes every game has the name in its screenshot, but thery are all written differently, completely inconsistence, hard to read, hard to search by eye etc.

The search function field is still there but feels more hidden, why not have it like a normal field like games et? (as I think it was before) ?

I hate the new steam look as well, but gog galaxy 2.0 just topped it by far.

So, why don't you go into Settings -> General -> Starting Page and select the store instead of "Games - Recent"?

Also having to play games needs now 1 more click...
"Slider" Button -> Customize Grid View -> Status adds a Play/Install button under every game.

I'm genuinely baffled, the search filed is the exact same as in Galaxy 1.2. Actually no, it added the word "Search"", where the old one just had the magnifying glass symbol. With this and the changed position from top left to top middle next to all the other fields for organizing your library it's even more conspicuous than before.

Having to go into settings, which I did not even know they exsits is annoying...

Having to activate an option to name names of the game is good as well, however, also this should be default...

Both these things are just small unneded things, which should not have happened, and which cause this whole new abomination to be as bad as it is.

However, thank you for mentioning these options with them I might feel a slightly smaller need to vomit when using the new client.

The search field changed position for no reason and the search field you are mentioning is under games and not the one I mean. I mean the one which is always there (where you can also search the store) that one is still on the left, only a magnifieng glass (rght to your symbol on top left), and soo hard to see, that even you did not saw this.

EDIT: You mean Settings Symbol -> Settings -> General and again one (unneeded) click more to show just how bad this new client is.

And instead of settings for all the small stupid changes I would prefer to have 1 setting which just states "use old client, and get people who caused this new client fired."

EDIT2: "status" adding a play button, makes pretty much no sence, the symbol being a pc monitor and only when going over it is a play button also makes no sense, and it is still1 click more! Before I had the games on my left in the sidebar. I need to click first on games and then under the game which I want to play.

EDIT3: I have to add to all games and recent games the options for the status and title seperately...

Also there is no option to sort by purchase date, which was before the default, how can this even be?...

EDIT4: Why is there no way to remove the unneded friend things from the sidebard, but an option to remove the shop?...

Edit5: Why is there no option to change this ugly colors of the client? Especially black on the side with the light grey of the shop screen is atrocious.

i just stopped the forced update to 2.0 and removed galaxy from my comp. i tried it and can't stand it. it won't be back
i am getting tired of tech/game companies using us as forced beta testers. they used to actually have to pay people to get their product into at least a semblance of a working order then ask people to use it and see if there was anything that could be fixed or tweaked. now it's pushit to as many as possible and not only get people to think it is a privilege to be a part of it but get those people to bash people who don't want it

hell, i'm not even that flippin old!!!!!! oh well

Long-term solution:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/open_letter_to_gog_and_message_to_support
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/allow_users_to_stay_with_galaxy_12

First link is my "open letter" topic where I'm asking others to add their voices (seems more people want to make their own or keep bumping the more discussion-oriented topics though). Also provides a decent template you can start from when making your own contact to Support, reachable through the "support" options on the main GOG site, or through the "feedback" options in the GOG Galaxy launcher itself. Second link is a "wishlist" page for GOG, requesting that they give a proper option to keep 1.2 version running until 2.0 is actually release ready.

Short-term solution:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/will_we_still_be_able_to_download_use_galaxy_1x_afer_20_is_released

There's discussion including links and references for how to download an older version of the client (one of the latest 1.2.x versions) and how to disable the updater by deleting or renaming a file. Someone named "BlackSun" has posted some more thorough details on removing the additional downloaded files Galaxy picks up in preparation for the 2.0 update.

It's a workaround and not a proper solution provided by the company, but it's good as a temporary fix until they move forward on doing it right - which I still hope they will do.

i'll add to the first. tried the second and still got the forced update today. won't be back to try again. sad when a company seems to give control to the marketing dept.

chmegma: sad when a company seems to give control to the marketing dept.
The worst part is that this isn't even a remotely competent marketing decision either...
its seems to operate like Steam now? It has to launch the client and won't just run the games without it?

When you install a game, it creates start menu links to the game which launch Galaxy with the game. If you go to the game's install path and launch the game, it doesn't force Galaxy to launch.
You have to install the old galaxy again if you want it, this new one looks just as woefully bad as steam

Haha! I love it. I second the need for the button that 'use old client, get people who caused this fired'. Love it.

These things scratch the surface. I tried it in the beginning, hated it, had to come to forums for a link for old client because GoG had stopped linking it openly. So its been a bit since I've looked at it, but seems like they haven't improved it any. Does it still not save between sessions how you organize things?

You guys should stop this. Adressing to problems and suggesting some solutions for them is one thing, but this "fire them" bullshit is another.

For me sometimes it saves, sometimes not. And when it doesn't, it resets size, but keeps everything else, tags for example.

I thought it was funny.

And from what you say and others I've read, the people responsible still haven't addressed any of the issues problems or suggestions.

Some issues are fixed, like missing games for example. And suggestions? Well, I wouldnt adress them either, because people are moving from simple disliking and suggestions to hating, spitting toxic comments and pointless whining.
I always thought that GOG community is the friendliest one but now Im just sitting and hoping that GOG wont take this too personally, they are already not in the best shape.
