ussnorway: ... \autoupdate = only gets made when the update is started
... \autoupdate-verified = a folder made | used to install the update... & left behind afterwards
... \temp\desktop-galaxy-updater = the folder used to download the files

all three will only be in your system after the updates have kicked in so not having them is a good thing mate... also not starting Galaxy 1 makes no difference to if the software decides to update so go ahead and fire it up
Awesome! Thanks much for this info. I'm still cheesed heavily about the downloader gone away. I have like 245 games need updating out of 600+ games. UGH. Once again, I put something off, and regretted it later.

In case you haven't found this. There's step-by-step instructions on April 06 that worked perfect for me. You can download the offline installers, extras, etc., in bulk. More detailed instructions are on the github page and in the download for the script.

flamanar: I did most of the 'tutorial', but couldn't find the following:

:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy ...
... \autoupdate
... \autoupdate-verified
... \temp\desktop-galaxy-updater

I toasted:
... \redists\GalaxyUpdater.exe
... \selfupdate.json

I also added the /runWithoutUpdating to the shortcut as advised.

I haven't run the program yet. I chose not to start it right away once t installed. Really appreciate the advice. Awaiting your reply.
This is the same thing I did, and as ussnorway confirmed, it's all you need to do if the other files haven't appeared on your system. I haven't had trouble since I reverted and it's been a week and multiple system restarts and GOG restarts since (I did have to forcibly stop some startup files in task manager to make it actually stop the app starting up on its own).

Still been 2 weeks since contacting support without getting a reply about the ongoing problems though, and that isn't something I'm happy about when other issues have been responded to even during lockdown faster than this one.

Thanks for this info, glad I am not stuck with a broken launcher
Praise be. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the guide. Still works for now. I do expect them to pull a MS and prevent the login with older versions...
Many thanks, i didn't like Galaxy but the new Update makes eveything even worse.

-Forced Update
-All Tags i set have been erased !
-Galaxy offers me to link with other onlinestores/services/...but i restricted datatransfer/sharing and storing, from my settings gog galaxy shouldn't be able to offers these links
- I get Infos, Updateinfos and other stuffs without starting Galaxy while all settings forbid Galaxy to do something on their own..esp. going online, i didn't even set a permission for the firewall
.
.
.
If i look at the stuff that changed over the last 5 years, i wonder if there will be any reason left to use Gog over Steam

So do I, which is why I will not be buying any more games from GOG that need Galaxy in any way. I only use Galaxy for online discovery in NMS, all other games are completely offline and I run them without Galaxy.

Not gonna lie, GOG games that require Galaxy go against the "optional client" thing that was touted back when GOG announced Galaxy. In a way, that makes Galaxy into some kind of DRM.
Please, can anyone tell me how to remove this annoying notification in a library?

I don't understand, are they this ignorant, they don't care how much a lot of people fucking hate that shit Galaxy 2.0? I'm completely flabbergasted.

I think we have to live with it until Galaxy 2 is out of beta.

Yeah, looks like they are preparing to pull the plug completely on the 1.2 version...

They will probably prevent the older versions to log in, just like MS did with Skype. In which case, i will uninstall the client and download the installers from the site and that's it.

I have serious issues with the current Galaxy 2.0 theme, as it hurts my eyes (literally). For me is unusable. Intense colors basically blind me. So, yeah, thanks for thinking to the accessibility for the people with eyesight issues. Apparently we do not have the same rights as the rest of the people. When even EA and Ubi are doing their best to implement accessibility options in games and clients, GOG does the exact opposite.

Damn, this is sad. I still don't understand why they force people to use beta client instead of stable 1.2.
