I assume GOG is waiting for Valve, Ubisoft, etc. to jump the wagon by building official Plugins themselves.
I just doubt they will :-(

badcoupon: Plus, how to you give bug feedback to a community made plugin.

Zoidberg: https://github.com/gogcom/galaxy-integrations-python-api/issues

You're welcome.
That would be the base code, not the actual Steam integration.

What I'm getting at is that complaining or submitting bugs reports about specific plugins that are not Xbox or GOG related is like screaming into a void. There seems to be no official way to provide feedback based on the OP's ticket response.

also, the steam integration github has had a simple pull request sitting there for over a week with no response, and it’s not enabled for issue reporting (which apparently nobody would look at anyway). i am a developer so probably could switch the plugin from screen scraping to api, but i don't see a way to get any changes i might make made official. i’m not concerned about the security of screen scraping but it’s definitely fragile and usually breaks whenever the web design updates.

sucks that GOG just closed the ticket without saying where the issue should be reported. i understand it's community developed, but since it's installed with galaxy they could at least hook us up with how to contact whoever's responsible for it.

Zoidberg: I disagree with GOG having to take responsibility for those. They got Microsoft support on this, if the other actors want to ignore this, this can only be done through free open source plugins (connecting to stores API) like they do.

One can't possibly be honest in demanding GOG to support everything, they made a tool allowing for such a feature. All they can do is push more people into using it, nothing more.
I disagree. These integration plugins are openly endorsed by Gog putting them in the settings menu rather than making you go find and download/install them yourself. Thus they have explicitly taken on the responsibility of vetting them and making sure they are safe for users to use even if they are not the ones maintaining the plugin.

Vetting is one thing, but actually providing a place to get support and/or report bugs and get them resolved is another thing. That needs to happen. Or be an actual requirement on the GitHub.

Evixios: Forking an existing integration wouldn't make it ''official''. Yes GOG would be responsible with maintaining it, but it would still not become an officialially endorsed thing from Steam or others just because GOG is doing it.
When I say "official" I mean an officially supported feature of Galaxy 2.0. It doesn't have to be officially endorsed by Valve. It just needs to be something that GOG takes responsibility for, rather than just saying "oh that's a community feature, don't talk to us about it."

That doesn't make sense when it's literally the main settling point of this app.

Even just the implications for the privacy policy make this a non-starter. They're basically saying "your data is protected by our privacy policy, except if you happen to use a third-party plugin." But the other platform integrations (except Xbox) are all third-party integrations, so the privacy policy doesn't apply to anyone using the app for its advertised purpose.

I love GOG and I really want this to succeed but if you advertise a feature, you can't disavow support for it.

You do make a good point there.

it still shocks me that Microsoft is becoming more open though and even if it's "official" with little bit of what you can do. just having Microsoft agree shocks me, because of the past and such

also it's nice to have humble bundle on the client which makes it easier then trying to go to the web page and finding it
Microsoft has been on point recently. It's really refreshing.

It's not clear that Microsoft is participating in the Galaxy integration. As I said earlier, "official" probably just means that GOG created and are officially supporting the plugin (as opposed to "community integrations" which are not supported by GOG). The Xbox plugin could work by scraping website or files just like the Steam plugin (I haven't looked); it isn't necessarily a partnership with MS.
One qeustion; as i understand there are two ways for all this to work. Either go the official api route, or do it the "proper steam website login account crawler method".

Now, the problem with the api approach as i have read here and on reddit seems to be with the privacy settings of one's steam account. I for instance, have set everything in my steam account to private and only visible to my steam friends. Does this really preclude an via api authorized website or service to read any of my steam account data? If that is so and the only way of devulging any of my accounts data to Galaxy 2 would mean i needed to lay everything on my steam account bare to the world wide web, than this would be another no go.

It kinda seems that this entire endevour is beridden of a lot of tradeoffs that make this a hard choice for the privacy minded ones.

No official implementation for the very feature Galaxy 2 was create for! And both possible implementations have various privacy and security concerns that i don't overcome easily. BTW; do Ubisoft and EA have apis for granting access to you accounts like the steam api, or is doing a proper login that crawls your account like on a website the only way of doing this?
I agree 100% with the op, as much as I love the Gog 2.0 app, I don't see very much sense in outsource the integrations. I don't want to manually add the launchers searching in github, because i don't have any idea how that works.

And yeah, its the main reason a user wants the 2.0 version so...

well todays your lucky day someone was kind and linked everything together https://github.com/Mixaill/awesome-gog-galaxy although a few are more complex like (humblebundle) where you have to scroll down to Installation and click the link while other are upfront like (Bethesda) plugin.

that was my first time using github
Thanks for the link! I hope Twitch gets added to the list in the future ^^
