As it says on the tin. Every time I click on "Install" for any game, the grey window that normally asks where to install the game pops up, but instead of the usual menu options and buttons, there's the loading ring, spinning forever. I let it spin for hours to no avail. I thought it was a temporary server issue, but it persisted for over two months now.

However, I know GOG GALAXY connects to the servers in some way at least, because it still downloads automatic updates and installs them correctly.

I've tried reinstalling the newest version several times, to no effect. I've been using the backup installers, but certain games just aren't detected by GALAXY (Like Baldur's Gate The Original Saga - I can install it, but it still shows up at not installed in GALAXY)

Could it be a case of a blocked port? Did anyone else have a similar issue?

Yep same problem.

Out of nowhere, next day when I ran GOG GALXY, the problem resolved itself.
I saw a bunch of updates for games, then I tried to install a game via GOG GALAXY, it just worked.
The only possible explanation I can see is that my antivirus blocked it, and once I set the required files as Trusted, it didn't start treating them as such right away and it needed a reboot? Which is odd because it still didn't work when I just disabled the antivirus altogether.

I guess problem is solved.

Disable IPv6 then restart your system. Report back if it doesn't help.

Hi Ice_mage,

Thanks fr the tip but unfortunatly IPv6 is already disabled here but Galaxy wont let me download anything since the latest update. Antivirus shut off but still no joy. Nothing but extras seem to download!!

It's your firewall -- and possibly router settings -- that you need to double-check. At the very least the following executables need Internet access (game executables also need Internet access for achievements to work):
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClientService.exe
%ProgramData%\GOG.COM\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe

Is there any error message when you try to install a game, or just a spinning circle or blank window? It's very strange since you can download extras. Given that there's only one application downloading both types of files, that suggests they're on different servers and only one is unreachable from your end.

You can try moving the %ProgramData%\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs folder to the desktop. Then reproduce the problem and exit GOG Galaxy again. If there's nothing useful in the logs after that, open a support ticket if you haven't already. You'll have to tell the chatbot the issue is of type "other" twice.

Thanks again for the input. Seems I now have to select the "download arrow" to the side of the filename and not the filename itself to download (Really need to find an FAQ on Galaxy).

Hope this helps anyone else having similar issues.

Filenames are only present on the Extras tab and you said everything there downloads fine. Well, as long as it works that's what matters.
