The worst part about it is that you FORCED the old GOG client to update. The only thing that does is ensure I will go out of my way to NOT use it. I don't know what you were thinking with this, since you've always been about freedom and choice, and then all of a sudden you pull this crap.

On top of that, it gives me absolutely nothing that the old client didn't already (that I actually care about), it's uglier, more confusing and way too "much". The old is minimalist and to the point, without any clutter.
... But even if it was the best client ever... DO NOT FORCE THE UPDATE!

I really, really hope this isn't a sign of things to come. You need to think carefully about how you proceed here. This is exactly the kind of shit that made your main audience ditch Steam over you guys - if you start acting like this, we might as well go back.

Just going to point out that Steam has done basically the same as GOG is doing now, 6 months ago, except in addition to lacking existing functionality and being much worse in the usual ways, they made their updated client a literal health risk for users. So there's still plenty of reason to pick literally anyone else over Steam at this stage.

I'd be more likely to buy from Epic than Steam at this point.

At this point, I'd just stop using any client, period. Fuck them all - Steam, Origin, uPlay, Epic etc... GOG is the only one I actually actively use, and enjoy doing so. For these exact reasons. But there always other ways. Just not ways I prefer, ethically anyway.

Why can't you just add an alternative/legacy client support and do the Galaxy 2.0 "megaclient" thing as a separate, optional executable?

NecroKnight91: I'm having problems downloading some of my games. Most of them can be downloaded normally, but I keep getting a server error when I try it on some other games (e.g. Darkwood).
I got this problem as well. Really sucks. Do you test your software at all?
I've installed galaxy. but whenever I try to start it up i keep getting the same error message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)"
Maybe somone knows, why Gog Galaxy don't support official integrations of EGS, Steam, Origin clients / games? As I understand those integrations are community made, and if something goes wrong (games can be stolen or something like this) Gog Company does not take any responsibility!!!?
Am I right?

First off all i'd like to say that I very much like Galaxy 2.0, and consider it a large improvement. I quite like being able to link all of my game libraries together, this is a feature that more platforms should implement. However, while I haven't had any major issues, there are a few problems I have encountered which are somewhat annoying. First of all, there are issues with using a VPN; when I first tried using it on a VPN it had trouble loading store and game information, so I set it to bypass the VPN, and at first it seemed to work, but then I started getting error messages saying "Connection to GOG Galaxy Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown." After trying several solutions I found a post claiming that it will work with or without VPN, but not with a VPN bypass, so I tried disabling the bypass, and it started working with the VPN. Secondly, cloud saves and the overlay only work if you have Galaxy 2.0 fully open, if you have it running in the background without any open windows, then games don't recognize that it is running. This isn't a major issue, but it is definitely an annoyance, as I prefer to keep GOG and Steam running in the background.
This company absolutely does not listen to the wishes of customers. Galaxy 2.0 MUST HAVE THE MOST IMPORTANT FUNCTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (WITHIN A WEEK, ONE MONTH) AS IT IS: SORTING GAMES BY DATE OF PURCHASE.

Until GOG adds this most important function, PLEASE NOT BUY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FROM ANYTHING !!!

If we continue to give them our money, nothing will change, because the company will think that customers will overlook their dilettantism.

WE MUST NOT BUY ANY GAMES FROM THEM so that the company becomes interested in its customers. If we just "dumb" shop, nothing will ever change.

We need to reach out to money for the company to realize that.

Until then, we can support developers directly, or shop at Itch.io or Steam, where the client is absolutely perfect and functional.

I'm very sorry about it.

i personally happen to the think games list on the left is the most important feature with easy forum access as the second most important. but that's just me.

I have been away for around a month or so, but was ready to purchase a couple of games for a few bucks (have them in my cart), then, I just stumbled with this new issue of Galaxy 2 forced into us, and I am not so sure I what to put more money in to Gog anymore… sad thing, as I was ready to stop buying on other places and invest all my money on this company.

I guess no platform is perfect, but forcing things into customers was not the way CDP/CDPR/Gog used to do things, and I believe it was the main reason for many of us to use Gog. I am very disappointed and just wanted to say so, in case anyone from this company actually cares.

I'm not really happy with GOG Galaxy 2's slow progress. The last hotfix was released five weeks ago. The last update even six weeks ago.

You can see the same bug reports repeated over and over again on the Mantis website, but nothing really happens. I can't really imagine how developers actually keep track of the huge amount of unresolved bugs. It seems like there aren't even capacities or the time for new features and improvements because of the slow workrate and the almost non-existent communication between guinea pig users and developers.

Considering that GOG Galaxy 2 is a beta release that was forced onto users like a main build means that GOG officially isn't developing an official main GOG Galaxy build at the moment by abandoning the first version of the launcher.

[Notice that I decided to use GOG Galaxy 2 before it was forced onto users, therefore I'm not even one of those upset users.]

It might be a clever move that was made because of the worldwide situation as a way of lowering GOG's ambitions. However, from a user's point of view that's totally inacceptable.

To be honest, I'm often amazed how unpaid solo developers develop lightweight software on a daily base which packs more features with less flaws compared to dev teams of big companies. It's kinda hilarious.

I'd like to request a long-time Steam feature: the ability to see a list of my games in a pane on the left side of the interface. Additionally, when selecting a title, I'd like this pane to persist, while the content loads in the right pane.

Also, the ability to sort by Tags that already exist in my site profile.

Incidentally, these were also features present in GOG Galaxy 1.2. Funny, that.

Do I want to play this game I just selected? Nah, I think I'll play something else. Guess I'll back out so I can see the list again. Ah, 2020, the year the Netscape Navigator user interface design philosophy finally made its comeback.

Thank God my firewall can block/terminate the GOG Updater. If I were in charge of branding at CD Projekt, I'd have called the new interface GOG Galaxy Vista, so everyone knows to adopt the Microsoft strategy and just skip every other major version, as CD Projekt seems to be adopting a similar model.
Just installed 2.0.16.182 update hoping it would fix my problem with Steam integration. But still crashes immediately after trying to connect Steam to Galaxy. I already tried to delete the Steam plugin and let Galaxy re-download the plugin.
Just in case someone who hasn't got the client installed or downgraded to 1.x wants to read the new change log, here it is:
