fi92: I had to revert to v 1.2.
It did everything it was supposed to do, some of these thing with brilliance, and ot top of that had some nice to have features. I had only a very few, nit-picking feature requests for it. All together from my perspective (i.e. relative to my needs and preferences) 110% performance.

Apart from a somewhat nicer look (which is 100% irreleveant to me) v2 introduced only new _NOT_ nice to have features (all the friends things - I really don´t need them, in fact, I don´t want them), removed (or hid) a great deal of the features I liked (most notably the forum), and broke the core functions - I could no longer download games, and when I tried my PC would become so slow it couldn´t even restart on its own.

How could this go so wrong????

Plaese, GoG, don't ever again force me to replace software that works with software that doesn´t!
I agree regarding the forum. I am not using Facebook although my game partner does and tells me things. But if I am not seeing new things from the game forums, I am not seeing them regularly. Also, we cannot make new friends if we are not meeting people at GOG.

GOG background color. I searched and it is mentioned but I could not post there.

How can I reset or set color of the GOG Galaxy 2 background?

TIA
JH
The GOG Galaxy background changes dynamically depending the game you select. At least that's the way it has been acting for me since the beginning. Apparently the neutral colour use to be grey, and the first launch colour used to be the one in the disc logo, violet.

I have not found any option to change the colour manually for now.

I didn't try, but if you select a game, and then:

Option Menu (left to the Play button) -> Edit -> MEDIA

You can drop a new image over "Background"

Maybe changing the Background for all the games will keep a fixed color...

If Galaxy adds the new image in some recognizable way in its data, like a JPG file named with the HASH of the game, maybe one can just duplicate that image for all the games, changing it's name appropriately.

I personally like a lot the dynamic background. In some apps I use to spend a lot of time toying and trying to get the colours I like the most and always end in switching a couple from day to day, never keeping only one, so, the GOG approach is valid for me.
I think he dynamic background colours makes the design atractive and not monotonous.

The change of background in EDIT/MEDIA of course changes the chromatics but it will change once you enter a different game screen. But yes, It could be the closest way of changing colors for now.

Well. Why not. If someone is very interested It is perfectly valid as a workaround. It should work.
I tried to change a background... but it's not so obvious where this setting is saved...

both in ProgramData and user AppData I can't find a reference... even with a raw search in the DBs...

Also, I didn't monitored the net when I changed the image, but it took so much time to load it that I had the impression it was uploading it to the cloud.

EDIT:

Found the file in this position, as .WEBP format:

.\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\webcache\<user_ID_number>\gog\1207666073\

"1207666073" is the ID of the game, in this case "Akalabeth: World of Doom"

the file is named like "<long random alfanumerical string>_glx_bg_top_padding_7.webp"

Also, found the reference in the galaxy-2.0.db:

in table "WebCache" there is:
"release_Key" = "gog_1207666073" (so "gog_"+ID of the game)
"id" = 1409 <- and this is what we need

in table "WebCacheResources" we can search the "webCacheId" = 1409, and the result are all the records containing the filename for the images of this game in Galaxy

EDIT 2:

So, I did this try, I DELETED the image from the folder and started Galaxy... after 2 seconds the image appeared again !!

Once you change an image, it goes in the cloud and is downloaded automatically.

Wait a minute! So this is Galaxy 2.0 fault?
For f...k sake, I have reinstalled half of drivers to nail those download issues. And I was about to replace my network adapter to a new one. And all that effort (lucky no money wasted) because of s...t f..k c...p release (read: forced beta migration) of Galaxy 2.0?!
I would never expect that coming from a company with a track record of doing magic to software to make it work.

SHAME on you GOG! You are now just tiny bit from becoming new EA in terms of disrespecting your customers.

I'm having problems downloading some of my games. Most of them can be downloaded normally, but I keep getting a server error when I try it on some other games (e.g. Darkwood).

Yup! I'm not the only one who has commented this. Arguably my rig is not top notch, but that's why I'm using a service called "Good Old Games". I use it to play older games. Kind of ridiculous if it requires state of the art hardware to download a game that was playable on most rigs 20 years ago.

Also, regarding "disrespecting your customers": Notice the interactive tone in the OP from the GOG team member "chandra"?
"Let's talk"
"We'll try to answer.."
Now 50 pages down, how many replies to posts here were made by chandra or any other GOG team members?

They act like the totally don't care. In fact, it sems to me they are actively trying to replace their customer base with one that uses state of the art rigs and prefers fancy looks and SoMe functions over simple functionality.

Probably a sound strategy too, at least economically. The rest of us can f... off. Only we can't, because GOG is still sitting on our game libraries.
I'll no longer be surprised if my library of purchased games becomes inaccessible soon if I don't download them all (which I can't) or install Galaxy 2.0 (which I won't - at least not in its current state).

Too add to this comment, I have not been able to add money too my wallet sence the 2.0 update. This includes using the old way / using my own browser (fire fox).

I guess GoG dosen't want my money, OH WELL.

The Recents page needs more customization options. The main feature of this page should be games I have played recently, which is currently first and foremost, but only shows the 4 most recent games I have played. This should be customizable, I personally would like to see the last 10 or 20 games I have played.

The monthly summary is interesting information and I think it takes up an appropriate amount of the page.

"Recently played by others" is not useful to me, and this shows the last 5-6 games played by my friends. Why does this have more space on the page than games played by myself? I'd like the option to remove this section and devote all that space to games recently played by me.

"Recently added" is interesting information, potentially useful to make sure I have appropriately tagged and sorted a new title in my library, but again I don't know why this section has so much space on the page when the games I have played recently have so little.

I made a quick mockup of how I'd like to be able to make the Recents page look, but don't seem to be allowed to attach images to this post.

Prior to the launch of Galaxy 2.0, I had a support ticket about an issue with the search function. It was a pretty low-priority issue, so when it got a "coronavirus is a thing, we've got delays" message, I didn't worry too much. They didn't have any specific timeframe but I was willing to let it sit and not expect to hear back potentially ever. I was expecting I'd see the issue again sometime and go "oh right that was a thing" and submit a new ticket.

That was in March. I don't have a reply to this ticket yet, but...

After the Galaxy 2.0 launch, in the middle of this time where they already know and are warning customers that support is experiencing significant delays, I submitted a new support request because the launch is a total mess. I got a stock "we have a lot of demand" message, again without any timeframe. Which seemed fine, and I was expecting maybe a week or possible a bit over that.

It's been well over 3 weeks since that ticket was submitted.

And today, in light of the absence of any support response on my previous actually-important ticket, I submitted a new ticket, suspecting maybe it got closed in error somehow. While looking up the date of the original ticket, I stumbled across my prior support ticket from March which had not yet gotten a reply. It has not, as far as I've been told, been closed either.

I got an immediate "we are experiencing delays" message as before, but *ALSO* an immediate second message, which included a timeframe.

Up to 4 weeks.

Because apparently March was less than 4 weeks ago? And that should be the MAXIMUM so an URGENT concern about a major update that was pushed live during a time where you ALREADY KNEW in advance that your support services were limited should be getting addressed as a priority... not with well over 3 weeks of delays.
Can anyone help with the issue described here?

Not much to add that hasn't been said by others already. Galaxy 2.0 is dark and ugly (it legit hurts my eyes when I look at something like this), it lacks some basic functionality (tags, sorting by purchase date) and overall I find it a rather unpleasant thing to use. If you make it look and feel like Galaxy 1.2, I'll happily update but as it stands, I have absolutely no desire to do so.
