20 minutes ago I had a Galaxy client where my game were presented on a nice bookshelf, filtered by tags, and could by sorted by date of purchase.

Then an update happend and none of this is true anymore.

For the bookshelf, I get that design is a matter of taste, but personally I really liked the bookshelf.

For tags, sure I could recreate my tags and go through all my 115 games and retag them.
There are two issues with that:
1) I shouldn't have to do this. Tags are obviously implemented in Galaxy 2.0, so this is a case of data migration. And considering Tags are not the most complex of things, the migration shouldn't be that hard.
Since Tags are a core feature for a programm like Galaxy (as a library of games) doing the migration should be a priority.
2) I actually considered retagging all my games - if I would know how to do that!
I have no idea how to:
- manage my tags
- add tags to a game

And even IF I would know, the drop in usability is HUGE considering how easy and intuitive it was to do so in Galaxy 1.

Gog team: please, PLEASE migrate the tag data to Galaxy 2 and reimplement the easy way of managing tags.

Did the forced update finally happen?

Thank god I disabled that auto-update system.

On the basis I ended up with it yes. They blew it up! Ah, damn them! God damn them all to hell!

I opted out of betas and yet I still ended up with it. A half arsed half baked system I didn't want. I wasn't asking them to bugfix the old system while they were working on the new one... just leave us alone and if they did a good job and actually brought across the features people wanted from the old version... then I'd have a look and think about upgrading.
Can be anything. Lazyness, forgot the tags, pushed wrong build....
Just keep managing the tags on the website and give it some time.

i don't think this was lazy, i was actually looking forward to this update. until i got it anyway. going a completly tile setup without giving users the ability to roll back the kind of view at least is a step backwards. i like my high information density look of the old launcher verse the sleeker but low information density of the new one.
for gods sake i didn't just tclick on update, the new client nearly was just forced onto my system. the lack of communication regarding the missing tags and the combination of this forced update makes me furious.

how a deeply integrated feature as that tagging system (hey gog it's on your WEBSITE!) isn't migrated into a new launcher is beyond me.

i don't need any of galaxy 2s features that haven't worked well enough months ago and don't work well enough today.

what i DO need is a TAGGING system for my 300+ games! gaah

Utterly baffling rollout strategy.

iangold: Utterly baffling rollout strategy.
I think the latest update is better than the last it still needs some work. I've been using it for a few months now I'm getting used to it. I don't use the integration features. I wish they would of let people stay on 1.2 but' here we are. It should get better. I have faith ib GOG. But A beta pushed on us is baffling.

It's currently asking me to update. I'll be clicking "Update Later" for as long as I can.

I had auto-updates disabled and used the /runWithoutUpdating command as well.

None of it mattered.

Apparently, you can't disable the update. Even clicking "update later" is only good once and the next time you log in it forces the update on you.

I was looking forward to 2.0, it sounded nice, what you could read about it. It took me only moments to realise, how even fundamental functions like the tagging system or the sort by date of purchase, which were essential to me, are just not implemented... hell, you even cannot access the forum properly ... what kind of halfbaked garbage is this?! It wouldn't be that grave, if this were not an actually forced update... stupid decision. I always defended gog, but this is utterly disappointing.

That's not how it's working for me. Still running 1.2 after clicking update later, and restarted a few times. But probably just a matter of time, I suppose.

Oh gash... I did that terrible thing... I did click UPDATE... I was sure it's gonna be just some minor update, not something that's gonna ruin my Galaxy. Now I'm screwed. Tell me... there must be a way to downgrade to 1.2?

1.2 here:

https://content-system.gog.com/open_link/download?path=/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_1.2.67.58.exe

Run Galaxy with /runWithoutUpdating in the shortcut.

No way of telling how much longer this will work, however.
