Galaxy no longer starts:

Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown.

I have reinstalled Galaxy, but this not solved the problem. What is going on?

I had this recently. It turns out that I just needed to restart my Mac. I did try reinstalling several times and deleted shared files, but all it needed was the reboot.

Cheers

same problem for me, sometimes after a restart it is fine, but after using the system for a while, and in my case, when multiple users have been on the system. I get that fault.
In activity monitor, the helper program launches multiple times and then the app crashes.
It's not good enough to "just restart the sytem" every time I want to play, I don't have to do it with steam, and often it's not convenient because other users may be logged in. This is a sytem, like all mac and unices, that don't need rebooting for months. It's not windows for crying out loud.
I too had this issue today, which I found odd because GOG Galaxy isn't supposed to need internet, and my internet was out. Good to know a reboot fixes it.
Reboot not fixing the issue for me on PC. Weirdly I can ignore the message and let it sit in the background and carry on using GoG as normal, but that message is annoying as all Hell. However, as soon as I try to X it away or click okay it will shut down the launcher.

Same. Reinstalled as well.
Same experience here. (Windows 10 PC; reboot no help.
Zig
same here
I have Windows 10, and GOG tells me I'm offline, and need to connect. It will not connect when I click to do so. Strangely, If I hotspot my mobile phone, it connects and begins downloading The Outer Worlds. Obviously, I'm not going to download a 47GB file on mobile data.

Frustrating. Not sure why the app will not connect through the router.
Same here, already had it since Windows 10 2004 and now version 20H2
You can ignore the error and GOG will continue working but it cannot connect to the cloud save service.

I am using GOG version: 2.0.28.9 Beta
I have had this issues with every GOG 2.0 version since it was released.

Reinstalled GOG many times, even reinstalled Windows, issue remains.

It is the GalaxyCommunication service that is refusing to start.
"C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe"

According to the Windows Event log this is the error:
EventID 7000
The GalaxyCommunication service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I have no Firewall software, only windows firewall, disabled that, I have pihole at home disabled that no difference.
The internet connection is 1gbps up/down, please fix this issue.

After doing some extra research what the exe actually does.
I see it first communicates with some Akamai servers successfully using HTTPS/443.

Then it tries to communicate with an IP: 194.110.240.210 (Cd Projekt S.A./Warsaw Poland) - galaxy-log.gog.com
It sends data but gets no response. After checking this IP it doesn't seem to have any known protocols open to communicate with.
So then the service fails and closes.

It seems like galaxy-log.gog.com is the issue it is not an issue on the end users device.

Of course this is Beta software so you can expect flauws but this one has been an issue for a pritty long time.

Only thing that worked for me was to reset winsock and reboot. I had tried literally every other suggestion I saw with no luck.
