DraganGaic: I found a solution for macOS, and at least it helped me.

After the Ventura upgrade, one of the GOG login items was blocked from starting up during the MacOS start.

Settings -> General -> Login items -> Ensure both GOG items are enabled.

I can see two login items: GOG Galaxy and GOG SP. z.o.o. The second one was disabled. GOG Galaxy booted up only after GOG SP. z.o.o was enabled.

bgebhardt: This didn't work for me. Found this reddit post that did work for me.
https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/rhxmqb/gog_galaxy_connection_lost_and_shuts_down/

I went into terminal and ran
/Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/redists/GalaxyCommunication. After that GOG would load.
Hi, probably the best solution. On my side I did not went until here.
I deleted the folder /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy and reinstalled Gog.
After that it was working again.

I assume the solution from reddit is better because it does not require a complete reinstall of Gog.
Doesn't works on my system (Mac m2). And why does this software need to "talk" to background services that start at launch?! There is absolutely NO REASON for just downloading apps.

Thank you for sharing. This helped me! I went and deleted the Galaxy Folder. And reinstalled GOG. It seems to be working after that! It was weird, cuz I could see the program loading in the background and then suddenly the message box would pop up! I am glad its over now!

DraganGaic post work for me too, thanks.
I'm having the same problem, and I've tried the solutions mentioned and referenced here. I've used the terminal to launch the GalaxyCommunication service. I've made sure that the two startup items were enabled in Settings>Login Items. I've made sure that the Galaxy client is listed as being allowed to receive incoming connections in Mac Firewall. I've turned Mac Firewall off. I've uninstalled Galaxy, removed its folder from User/Shared, and reinstalled. That last time, it was about to start up, the interface loaded, then it threw the error and died. When I first installed the Galaxy client last week, I initially had problems with its interface going blank if left idle for a while. I think i reinstalled. Then it worked fine since then, until today, when the error keeps popping up and crashing Galaxy. I'm on an M1 Mac Mini running macOS 13.5.1 Ventura.
Update to my situation: I changed the size of the macOS' Menu Bar under Settings>Accesibility>Display. That change requires logging out and logging back in, which I did. Galaxy launched and successfully started with no problem.

I have no idea how it fixed itself.

Worked for me too (when the other solutions didn't).

I'm guessing because changing the macOS menu bar size requires you to log out. You could probably get the same effect by simply logging out and in again.
Note this fixed it for me

Simply go to your driver manager
And simply uninstall all your internet drivers
Note do not delete your internet driver software
Do not take the box

Once all your internet drivers are removed
Simply click the button search hardware
And your internet drivers should be reinstalled
This fixed the problem for me

Note if you're using a USB adaptor Four example a Wi-Fi adaptor You may need to unplug it and re-plug it
And your driver should be reinstalled

Good luck and have fun

If this did not resolve the issue you can try reinstalling the software

Hi,

I'm using MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 and I apprently solved the problem by unabling “GOG Galaxy” and keeping "GOG SP. z.o.o.” enabled.

GOG Galaxy otherwise crashes whether both things are enabled or if “GOG Galaxy” is the only enabled.

Also still experiencing this problem. How can we vote for this to be a priority fix?
hello,

In my case below resolved the issue.
I'm working on MB Air M1 Sonoma 14.2.1

I've tried everything suggested here - toggling the Login items. Turning off GOG Galaxy. Reinstalling (which gets me a UI for a few seconds before it errors, once). logout/login. running that commandline entry.

Always the same error....

[edit]

Solved it! I logged out the other user on the Mac, and now it works!

What a lame customer support. None of those fixes are working on my machine. The thread was started few months back and no comment from GOG.

It really shows me how GOG repects Mac users. After hard day, I want to play a game and I can't and developers don't give a **** that people have this problem. Then fine, I will use Steam instead.

Die hard GOG, Long live Steam!

For those who still have a problem. I removed literally every thing that was on my mac and has "com.gog" in it's name. The I installed it again and now it works.

Thank you GOG for 1h of debugging your software. I also don't understand why GOG needs 2 process working in the background, looks like a loot for game launcher.
I can confirm that removing all "com.gog" references + reinstalling did the trick and allowed Galaxy to boot again.

I *think* the cause is that not all required login items are booting. Double check in your settings under "Login Items" that both GOG items listed there are checked. See the attached screenshot for reference.
