Today we publish another exclusive interview with the creator of one of your favorite classic franchises. Aaron Conners is the man behind the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue/#all_genres/search/tex/]Tex Murphy series. If you haven't had a chance to read the first part of the Q&A. Now when we're sure you've read the first part, see below for the second round of question answering.

Once again, huge thanks goes to Aaron Conners for answering all those questions. Now enjoy your read.

Zjeraar: Wouldn't it be nice to have these Q&A's (not just for Tex Murhpy games) linked from the game page, before these interviews get lost in the depths of the GOG archives forever?
Great idea, Zjeraar.

Red_Avatar: Tex would work as a 3D game in the vein of Gabriel Knight 3 but with much better graphics of course. Voice actors are cheaper and easier than having them act out the parts and you can just use a single actor for the animations which saves money too + no need for a set.

Chris Jones is too old now to play the part like the original games anyway (no offense Chris) and would have to become like the last Indiana Jones movie which could work but may not be what fans want. The whole "PI trying to make it" angle wouldn't fit when he looks 50+ - they would have to change the concept and wasn't that angle what made the games so appealing? A kind of Magnum PI vibe where you have a PI who isn't taking seriously and who is constantly bumming friends for money and favours?

In fact, I'm surprised I haven't seen people compared Tex Murphy to Magnum PI - which, may I add, was popular at the time when the first Tex Murphy game was made so I doubt there were no influences in character:

- both use monologues to talk about their experiences and both use them in a similar way
- both are scrounging off friends
- both are trying to make it big and aren't taking that seriously
- both have a friend who helps them out with "legal" business (Mac for Magnum, the cop for Murphy) even if they always need convincing or manipulating
- both have a flashy car (ferrari & speeder)
- both are always behind on bills or have borrowed stuff they lost or misplaced or broke
- both are charismatic and are reasonably popular with the ladies
etc. etc.

Very similar indeed! Never even realised it how similar they are.
I have to say, I have always wanted to see the TM games return. Personally I love the FMV but if it were to go to CG avatars I would love to HEAR the original cast reprise their roles as voice talent, at least Chris as Tex. If they were to redo the FMV I agree a bit that Chris would be too old as I would want them to pick up where they left off in the 2140s so I have always thought a decent fill-in for Chris in terms of general looks and the ability to do comedy would be Ryan Stiles. I don't think I've ever seen him do anything dramatic, but the comedy would be top shelf. He's already got the Film Noir Narration down pat.
