Anyone looking forward to it? A free WC game using the open Freespace 2 engine.
http://www.wcsaga.com/
Playable Prologue has been available for a while, now the main game's in testing, the developers are showing teasers and info
In its current state, Saga has the following

Over nine hours of voice dialogue.
Approximately 70 cut scenes for a total of about 90 minutes of pre-rendered footage (not counting in-flight communications and command briefings).
Over 60 voice actors, some of whom are actual professionals.
221 voice acting roles.
55 missions.
Achievements (mission performance is evaluated and rewarded)
90 models created for Saga.
Download size of 3-4GB with an installation size of 8-9 GB
Q: Will there be a Linux or Macintosh version?

A: Yes.
"1/4 not always professional actor per role" scares me a bit.
I'm really looking forward to this. I played the prologue years ago, and that was already a pretty impressive release.

Also, this should go well with any future Wing Commander releases here on GOG.
Hopefully they'll be able to release it before EA hits them with a cease and desist order.
I just hope that the WCS team got sufficient approval, so that nobody shuts them down.

I mean, Wing Commander Standoff did not run into any trouble, so I hope that this game will be ok, as well.

Played the Prologue and it was impressive : beautiful, well-acted, nice story, coherent with the real "WC". Actually, it could have been an official release.
Also : tough as nails !

The only things I lack are not possible to do with the Freespace engine : branching plot (beyond cosmetic) and you being able to talk to people back at home.
I did voices for some characters for Saga seven years ago.

It's like you recorded a message for a time capsule.

By the end of next week, we will have finalized 48 of the missions from the main campaign, leaving only the final two climactic missions.

That looks great! Nice little teaser trailer they put up too, very professional looking. I hope it turns out well. That would be cool.

You mean the prologue?

I'd hold off on that, though, The final release is gonna feature an updated version of all Prologue missions.
