After the crazy summer promos we're back to our usual schedule with weekend promos. Nevertheless the "usual schedule" doesn't mean "usual promos", oh no siree! For example, this weekend we're cutting half of the price on all 11 titles from TopWare Interactive. This way you can grab all three parts of the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/search/earth%2021/order/alph/]Earth strategy series for only $2.99 each, the great RPG Two Worlds for $4.99, and many other games for cheap. Check out the promo page for the full list and enjoy another weekend of classic games fun!

tarasis: lol took me a few seconds to spot what you were talking about.
Yeah ! , I think that it is kind of funny myself. We have been looking at it for days (without really looking) and not spotted it - apparantly its a tendency that we just kind of automatically, per routine, glance at things and see what we expect to see rather than really seeing.....
;-)
If I just have waited 2 days I had got one the games 2 euros cheaper (Septerra Core).
..and this is why they don't tell the sale-games before.
Already owned two worlds and never really had heard of topware. It's not bad game.. perhaps those sounds when you hit a somesort of swine, or enemy (same thing =), they could have better noices. Weird game, propably still play it. Seems fine to me.
Just listening to the music from Earth 2140 Expansion 2 (bottom of the page). Track 1 reminds me a lot of the Crusader games and Track 3 has a pulsing/bass sound to it that heavily reminds me of Red Alert

Well at the last minute I decided to buy Two Worlds, Septerra Core, Gorky 17 and Enclave. I have way too many games right now but couldn't pass them up after a bit of research.

Now all I am waiting for is a sale with some of my favorite classics like Planescape and Baldur's Gate... I have the discs but love the digital versions so much more. I doubt these go on sale often or maybe at all though.
Ach! I just moved and don't have an account at the moment to purchase Two Worlds....
Fuck it. Just picked up Gorky 17.

Nice... but the videos don't seem to work (Windows 7, 64). The actual gameplay seems unaffected, however.

MIKEWRX: ...
Reading your rant, only now I realized I had mixed up two different strategy game series: the Earth series, and Ground Control games. I was a bit WTF? when you ranted about building new units etc., and how the first game does not have much of AI to speak of. :D I had to check MobyGames to clear my confusion.

I bought the Earth 2140-2160 games from GoG with this TopWare offer, thinking they are Ground Control series games. Oh well, I don't think I owned any of the Earth games before (not sure though), but I own Ground Control + expansion already on CDs. I just have to remember to buy GC2 from GoG someday...

FiatLux: You don't rant. You delivered a lot of nice info about your personal experience and point of view(s) with repect to the "Earth 2140 Trilogy" game .
Agreed. Funny thing though, in MobyGames review at least someone is complaining that 2140 is too hard, while this rant made it look like the game is super easy because the enemy does not even attack you and is very passive in other ways too. Heck, they seem so passive that they would probably die off by themselves just because eating and breeding is too much effort.
Now Ground Control 2 is bought from GoG. The beauty of GoG, I don't really have to think that hard about buying any interesting games from it to my archive. :) And I'm fighting the universal monetary crisis with this purchase as well, consume consume consume!
Enclave bonus stuff should have included, at least, the main theme song. (I haven't heard the rest of the soundtrack, though.) I happened to look it up last week (on a whim; good music can come from anywhere) and found it rather epic.

(off-topic) I guess, though, that considering the computer technology today, it isn't /too/ hard to create epic orchestra music, vs. using an actual symphony ala John Williams. :)

The review in question you read on MobyGames was probably about the original Earth 2140 DOS release, which had a fully functional AI and was as such much more difficult; only this later Windows XP release, the "Eart 240 Trilogy" has the boken, uh or should I say non-existant AI :)

Sounds then a similar case as the "team bug" in original Dune 2.

Funny they never fixed that then for the Windows version. I presume it was not intentional (in order to make the game easy).
