Tiefood: I think your referring to fallout tactics, in fallout 1-2 there is no such kneeling, have you read any of the wasteland paragraphs? when told to do so? Wasteland has different types of shots also from single to burst hell to full auto, wasteland has distance too if you didn't know.. if yo didn't see the 20' or 15' next to the enemy.. it effects accuracy..too.. wasteland is like a PnP rpg ..
Well yes but all the rest is still true ;) - I played Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics close to eachother so you can imagine the confusion but you can't deny that Fallout's combat had tons more depth.

And the paragraphs are there for fleshing out the story, not the combat. The distance thing is also very weak because you have very little control over it - in Fallout you'd take a few steps closer and shoot and get an accuracy idea. In Wasteland you can't even SEE the distance except at the start and you can only "run" (which is very confusing to do) or "shoot", not both. Face it, Wasteland's combat is very shallow in essence.

I stand by what I said: this is a game remembered for its setting and approach, not its combat. The combat has now aged terribly if you ask me, overshadowing the positives.

My whole point was the story having depth.. i just was explain that wasteland had allot of what fallout had. Fallout 2 is my favorite game ever created, and i am glad Wasteland 2 didn't come out until now if it came out in the 90's fallout 2 wouldn't exist.
