Ok. This time I would like you guys to think at your favorite game of all time and then say what would you change about it .. to make it even more awesome .. if you have the power to do so (and if you really do .... what are you doing about it ? :P). I would like to see deeper answers than .. " I would make the game longer " or "I would give it away for free".

I have to admit that I have a hard time finding something to change at the perfect game in my book - Deus Ex - so I will have to get back to you on that.

Anyways ... post awaaay!

EDIT: I thought more about ... I think a more open world for a game like Deus Ex would have been a bigger boost I guess ... I mean the story is great and the levels are pretty big to explore .. but having the possibility to travel between locations not as the main story dictates .. but at your own will (smth like a Morrowind / Oblivion / Maybe gothic feel to it) would have made the game even more immersible. Maybe we'll get this in Deus Ex 3.. I can only hope.

Deus Ex? Easy. The knife. That piece of crap knife and it's serrated edge have bugged me since the day of release. The model isn't serrated, the skin is drawn to make it look so, with black triangles resulting on the side. This is always broke immersion for me.

Not the most game breaking thing, maybe, but you said it's a hard game to improve.

I would have liked, though, to have a smarter inventory system. Something which can either adapt to your preferred items or allow you to customize something like not picking up the knife off of every person you search. Every time I loot someone I have to drop a knife, or a baton, or cigarettes, or zyme... well... maybe not zyme.

:)) zyme.. Ok .. this might be a bit too much detail .. the knife model thing .. but if it was bad for you .. you had to say it ! I personally LOVED the x-bow in this game .. so never used the knife much.

GameRager: The crossbow was ok, but you know what I hated? The damn baton combined with sneaking. In order to get a one hit, you had to sneak, but if you tried hitting enemies with it when crouched/sneaking it didn't always knock em down, so in order to make it count you had to sneak as they walked(usually much faster than you at the start of the game, making it hard to keep up.) and try to alternate sneak/walk/sneak/walk to keep up yet not get heard....and then you had to make sure you had enough time to stand and smack them before they changed direction or saw you.

Also related is how you could have the baton and sneak up behind them to where they couldn't realistically have seen or heard you, yet if they're in bright light they somehow don't go down in one hit.
Yes.. this can go on my list too. I guess the blackjack from the Thief series was doing a better job at clubbing guards hehe

I like that the two people that replied so far also went for Deus Ex, but remember .. this is not only a Deus Ex thread ... you have to pick your favorite of the favorites (I guess Deus Ex is pretty much high on everybody's list though).
I'd rip the 2nd ed ad&d rules out of Baldur's Gate and replace them with something designed for computer games, rather than something designed for p&p rpgs that results in my party spending most of their time 'adventuring' by sleeping in dungeons, beside rooms filled with monsters: "What's that? The room next door is filled with Umberhulks and Illithids? Well then, perfect time for a nap. I'm sure they won't bother coming through that door at any point in the next 8 hours."

lukipela: I would replace commander shepherd with Bruce Campbell.

Actually, I would replace all male heroes in all games with Bruce Campbell.
This is the guy that played the thief character in the Hercules series right? Liked that character!
I would add LAN support for it and would release the damn expansions faster (not after 1.5 years of the original's release).

Talking about Starcraft 2, of course. :p

Not before they release Diablo 3 though ... I mean .. enough is enough .. I am way "beyond the crawling on my knees begging" phase Blizzard!!! :D

Great idea. Male sheps voice annoys me greatly so i play a female.

I would have to say the pathfinding and the general movement of the units in Total Annihilation.

Hahah. :D There are rumors that the beta could start this summer. Hopefully those rumors will be true, and we'll be a part of it. :)

Judging by Starcraft 2's beta, it would be the full multiplayer experience, with the exception of the single player campaign.
Easier-to-use graphic file formats, those BAM files are annoying. I could probably get the GemRB team to consider adding in a plugin for a new file spec, but they're too busy getting that engine up to par with the original games.
I would make it work properly in Win7. ;__;

(MW2: Mercenaries)

If we're talking about gameplay-wise? I'd make headshots just a tiny bit more possible on any mech but the Jenner. Because I think I managed 1 headshot on a heavy mech in as long as I played the game.

And I'd probably nerf the flamer. It's a bit silly that a fast mech can run up to an assault, flame it to death, and boom! you have a brand new assault mech for salvage.

Have not played the Mech Warrior series yet .. but I`ll give you this .. flaming a big robot to death sounds kinda silly :) Might as well try to spoon it to death.

GameRager: Well that much goes without saying. ;)

So, who else is waiting for Diablo 3? Also how many here played Diablo 2? Funnily enough I never got beyond the first desert episode. (I hate openworlded games, it drives me up the wall mentally ocd shite etc.)

Good games though, very good in fact.
You want to say that you never played beyond act 2 ? . .ever ? .... sorry but ... MY GOD! ... for he humanity's sake and all that's dear in the world ... you have to do it man! Puppy lives depend on this!!!
I would add multi unit select to Dune 2. Even with single unit select it's better than most RTS games out now.
