etb: I also dislike superhero movies, doubly with a character like superman.... Superman VS Batman? Superman takes the whole Gotham and throws it to the sun. End.

The only superhero I enjoy is GODMAN.
There is also Bible-Man, as played by Willie Ames. XD
Behold, Star Wars Disney style.

What version of Episode IV is the best?
It seems there's the original theater version, a -93 laserdisc thing (?), a special edition from 1997 and a 2004 DVD version which I heard was f*cked up pretty bad. Blu-ray is essentially the same as 2004 DVD version with cleaner picture and a few changed shots?

Blu-ray is also fairly messed up. Crushing blacks and messed up hue...

However, do not forget the Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition, that uses the Blu-Ray as base, but fixes color issues and removes all the "special additions".

The second one is no so bad, it is actually better than the CGI put in the movie At least it is for fun.
I never had much of a complaint about the movies excluding the fart joke in the Phantom menace. I like both trilogies, good stories and characters. Though Hayden wasn't a very good romance actor, he did the grumpy young man very well. He was just as whiny and annoying as luke skywalker was in the first two films.

Edit: Star Trek and Stargate are soooo much better! :P

The good ones. Before the dark times, before the toy product empire. The ones Lucas was making when everyone thought he was out of his goddamn mind for making 30s action serials set in outer space... in a decade dominated by mafia, blacksploitation, and disaster flicks.

There's something true about the analogy of success from adversity. Once success is achieved from adversity, everything else become a poor clone of the original. The minute Lucas stopped having to beg for more money and started cashing in his own, the clock was ticking.
I liked the original trilogy. Plus i have quite a few memories linked to those. The new trilogy never clicked with me and i was annoyed to death by Jar-Jar Binks. But i confess that i'm curious about Abrams new trilogy. He was a disaster with the reboot of Star Trek movies, but his second Star Trek movie was actually decent.

I still prefer Star Trek and Babylon 5 settings, but as i love space opera, Star Wars and those two are not competitors. All are reach in lore, have good stories and interesting characters. Damn, i miss space opera in both movies and TV.

To be honest for some time I felt something similar and the fact that a fanedit like the TM2YC one can fix the movie means there is good in it. No amount of cut and past can save really bad movies like "After the last season."

However after a while I noticed that the comparison does not really hold, check this list:

Archetype: EpI, VS EpIV.

Master: Qui-Gon VS Obi-Wan. Somewhat fine, but in Ep IV Obi dies to help Luke; in Ep I Qui-Gon dies because he's weak and he looks fairly insane.

Student: Anakin VS Luke. Anakin is shown too much as a loser. Sure he is a genius mechanic, but he never finished a contest.. ect. Luke is not so bad and actually quite heroic on the Death Star.

Support: Obi-Wan VS Han solo. I think in this case we are fine. Both are fine.

Strange one: JarJar VS Chewbacca. Do I really need to explain?

In the fanedit everything is fixed because: any reference to Anakin being a bad racer is removed, he is a amazing pilot and the race actually works as Establishing Character Moment since the "child" shows an extremely serious and concentrated mode unusual at that age. JarJar now have alien speak with subtitles (and he does not say any nonsense), he is son of leader of his people, his stupid attics are removed and he actually meaningful and helpful.
Since everyone is better Qui-Gon, while he still dies because he's weak, does not look insane. Trusting Anakin and keeping JarJar nearby now make sense.

Similar comments apply to Ep2 and Ep3.

For me, 4-5-6 > 1-2-3 and the Holiday Special.
Obviously the holiday special is well known, but what about the other two movies 'Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure' and 'Ewoks: The Battle for Endor' ?
Final Fantasy XII
