The good thing about GG is that it has many games not available anywhere else (for example, GG started selling Thief and Daikatana years before GOG). The blue coins rewards program is also really good, i got quite a few games for free already just by using blue coins.

Doubt either. Amazon seems to have a hand in many things but not great in anything except in books.The way they sell games is a bit allover the shop.Steam.No Steam. Sales have become so so bland - only great deals are the ones where they price match and better a Steam sale....otherwise same old same old. Then you have CAG trying to have their 2cents worth -- check their Amazon thread

Their setup is better than a lot of others, but their customer management is lacking.
I only send friends there if they have a sale you can't beat, but I wouldn't warn anyone away from them.

Not how i see it. They fall into same basket as Humble & GMG albeit with a tad more drm free stuff....

GG is a quite decent store. They have good prices, good promos now and then, and sell quite a few games it is hard to get elsewhere. If you like games a little bit on the side of the mainstream, it is a good place to start

I like GamersGate. They have many DRM-Free games you can't find on GOG and they often have good sales were you can find both DRM-Free and Steam games pretty cheap.

I've bought a few games there, mainly due to price, never had a problem with them, some games can be downloaded and "kept" on your hard drive which I was able to do with Lost Horizon and NWN Diamond.

I don't buy many downloadable games though, so ymmv.

I have excellent download speed, some times their deals are better than steam, UK store accessibility is a plus for me, quite a few DRM free games, blue coins given for purchases that you will use to make other purchases. Make sure that you are careful to the DRM notices, as sometimes it's not exactly clear what they use. Bought Tropico, thinking that is using Steamworks, but it was actually using the Kalypso DRM.

I like GamersGate, but it feels like it really needs a lot of work doing. The catalogue is filled with some absolute trash, and during large sale periods it can be quite annoying to have to sift through dozens of pages of low-price low-quality games from publishers like 1C. Their sales can also be really good, but also really bad. I think right now it's the case that M&MX Legacy is £15 on sale... and so is the Deluxe edition. What. Their attempts at bundles - IndieFort - are beyond laughable, they'll easily charge ~$10 for a handful of games that generally aren't that interesting or can be had for cheaper without much effort.

I don't think it's the best store, but they can have deals to rival Steam and other vendors, and it's worth having as a store you check frequently. But they really need to work on their presentation, their support and their timing. New deals can often be an hour or so late.

And don't bother with GameTutor. It's the worst community support place I've ever seen.

Almost decent. I did buy a couple of games there, quite some time ago. I don't anymore.

1) i do not like their 'fidelization' devices, like coins rewards for buying games, or exp, or whatever - it makes spending money a metagame by itself, it plays on gamers reflexes, i find it a bit creepy and manipulative. And those who demand the same on gog are idiots.

2) I'm tired to have to check for drm in small letters each time i browse a catalogué. Being happy to see a game, and then disappointed because it's infested by drm, is annoying. Also, like all these shops, it became, with time, a bit of a steam outlet. Tiresome.

3) In order to make their drm-free games actually drm-free, a tedious download workaround is required, which i expect to be prevented at some point (is it already) ? Their notion of drm-free is dishonnest, because if you simply follow their instructions, absolutely none of their game is drm-free.

Three reasons why i've progressively ceased to even check their site.

They have one good thing going for them, though : the ability to regift the games you bought and didn't download yet. This béats the gog system of having to decide prior to acquisition whether you get it for yourself or someone else...

If it's that much of an issue to you, you can always buy "as a gift" on GOG and choose yourself as a recipient. Only redeem when you actually wish to download the game and you have the same thing as on GamersGate.

Not the same thing. First of all, it requires "extra work" and the game you have as a gift does not appear in your game shelf.

If GOG would allow you to gift games from your shelf (if you haven't downloaded it at all, of course), then it would be similar.

I don't terribly mind GamersGate, but because I resent Origin and UPlay and do not want to take a risk with "Other DRM" in case it turns out to be some absolute bollocks, the few things that I buy from them are either DRM free or Steamworks titles. GOG and Steam tend to be my primary online stores, so GG falls into a very narrow gap; I only buy games from them if they are in a very deep discount and/or unavailable on either of the others.

But they do have some great sales. Some time ago there was this awesome deal where you'd get the whole 1C catalog with just 20 dollars or something. That was a lot of games.
